I'm looking for some good local food for lunch in either Kihei or Lahaina, preferably Kihei if someone knows a place there that is ono. Also, a great poke place too!

Da Kitchen (Kihei-counter orders; Kahului-table service) has Ono-licious local-style grindz & is always busy with locals enjoying the food.

Aloha Mixed Plate has the best Lahaina area Hawaiian food & is owned by the same people who produce the Old Lahaina Luau. In the evening you could eat at AMP while listening to the OLL show next door for a cheap "luau". ;)

I don't know if either one serves poke but the Costco has freshly made varieties such as ahi & shrimp. :)

Oahu- Duke's (fresh fish, loved the salad bar); Keneke's plate lunch in Waimanalo 9sooo good); shave ice (anywhere, really).

Maui- Maui Swiss Café in Lahaina (really quirky little place hidden off the main road with really good sandwiches! they also have shave ice and fresh coconut); Flatbread Company in Paia (apparently this is a chain restaurant, but all of the ingredients were fresh and local; very tasty).

Kona- Splasher's Grill (across from the tender port, so it's busy- but very fresh food).

Kauai- Small Town Coffee in Kapaa (for a snack, good coffee and a cute little place- there was a market happening outside the front door when we were there).

If you feel like splurging go too Mamas Fish house in Maui excellent food and view right on the beach

It's also available on Maui at Kimo's & maybe the Hula Grill...both of them are owned by the same owners of Duke's which is also in Maui.
