Thanks for the info....DH and I are smokers and I chose that cabin as it's the last in the row of suites and any smoke should blow back and not bother the other balcony cabins, and so I was concerned about the traffic and or noise being near the elevators. I appreciate your information, enjoyed your review and wish you luck in your studies!

Same reason I chose my cabin - I did not choose the furthest one back though, as I did not want the connecting door to the inside cabin next to it. I was worried about noise travelling through the door.

Your smoke should not bother anyone though. And you should not notice any noise from elevators or traffic.

Have a great time.

Hey Kelly:

I think you mentioned that boarding for suites was not the best or the port was not set up for it...anyhow, we have a suite and FTTF...any advice you can give us for that?

No - it is totally not set up for it. There is a separate check-in line that is shorter (we had no wait whatsoever). But after that it's just one big area for boarding. People just walked right up the stairs with no one checking if they were FTTF or had priority boarding of any kind.

I would suggest you ask the person after you check in if there is any special spot for you to wait for FTTF (even though there isn't one). Then hopefully they'll do what they did for us and just escort us up right away (after any weddings). If you get there later, it won't matter, as you can just go right on then. But, I suggest you get there early like we did and take advantage of the FTTF perks - especially having your cabin ready right away and getting your luggage first. We had it within a few minutes of being in our room.

I love reading Fantasy reviews! I am booked on Fascination in October but I plan on booking my 5th cruise on Fantasy next year and will be FINALLY taking my boys with me.

Great Review!!!!!

Thanks!

I just remember, when planning for my cruise, how I searched for all reviews I could find. I particularly loved the picture reviews. So, I took notes every day - I wanted to make sure to write a good review with lots of pics for others to read while they were planning their cruise.

I am just glad everyone is really enjoying the review :-)

Great review and I'm glad the hotel, carriage ride, dinner and the cab ride worked out! Glad to help all who come this way. We just did a Fascination trip and are looking at a Fantasy sometime next year, cause they have a different port! (can you say LSC?)

I really enjoyed your review and I love looking at pictures. My sisters and I took my Mom for her 80th birthday on the Sensation with the same itinerary and loved it. My DH and I are doing the Glory on the New England cruise in Sept. and can't wait. I am excited to try Carnival again as we have just sailed on Princess the past 5 cruises together. Thanks again...it was great!

We were with Kelly on the Fantasy!!! We had a blast~the crew are some of the best we have had, the ship is well maintained, food was good with a few new options, seas were calm and the sun was shining what more could we ask for!

Kelly you did a great job planning our meet and greet and I liked having in on embarkation day because we all saw and talked for the rest of the cruise.Kelly your boys are so nice and funny.

We walked to Gray Cliffs and looked around the grounds it is a beautiful hotel with a cigar and candy factory. We then walked on to John Watlings Rum Distillery which is gorgeous! The staff are so nice and the rum oh so yummy! I am mad at myself for not bringing some back but we had already purchased alcohol on the ship and I did not want to be over our limit

We have been on 15 cruises and this was the best one so far they have all been great but everything just fell together perfectly on the Fantasy!

Thanks for the review Kelly all the pictures are really good we are in a few the ones of the pool on Lido we are in our "spot" :)

Now to start planning for our 7/13/14 Breeze Crazy Hat Cruise!

Thanks for posting these pictures which allowed me a trip down memory lande. The Fantasy was our first ship when it was new and for our 25th anniversary I booked it again with the same cabin and we had a vow renewal. She's a great ship!

I have been re-living our vacation ever since I got back - every time a friend wants to see the pics. Watching the slide show on my computer makes me want to be back there again! I would go back on the Fantasy anytime!

I was sitting on my balcony with a glass of wine and my Nook when suddenly the balcony door opens and my boys walk out with a little white chocolate cake they had bought for me at the specialty coffee shop place – and they were singing happy birthday to me (my birthday was the next day, but it was now past midnight, so it was technically my birthday and they wanted to be the first to sing to me). They even substituted their own words for the 3rd line and sang “Happy birthday to the best mom in the world.” My boys and I are very close, but this really touched me and was one of the sweetest things they’ve done for me. It was a great day for me.

This brought tears to my eyes; such sweet boys and handsome as well. Congratulations

Enjoyed your review and your photos. What a fun time for you and your boys. I will be a cruise in December with friends who have a 18 year old (he'll be 19 by the time we go) and am concerned about him having a good time. Sounds like your boys were able to make friends and enjoy the ship as well as the excursions.

Thank you! They are good boys and I was very touched. Raising kids is a tough job, but every now and then they do things like this that make it all worthwhile :-)

Thank you very much Susan! We all had such an amazing time and the boys still talk about the trip. It will be something the 3 of us will remember forever.

Hi Kelly,

Thank you SO MUCH for writing this review and posting all the pics. I've been sitting here with coffee in hand the last 45 mins reading, LOL. I am very interested in the Fantasy since we are considering going on her next July for DH 40th BD. I only sailed Carnival once (over 20 years ago) and I have never had a balcony with all the other cruises I have taken. I love the "Toes" pic and it makes me envious to want to book a balcony cabin, just not sure if I can swing it. I had a few questions if you didn't mind answering-

The Dolphin swim that you did- did you book that as an excursion via the ship or did you do that on your own? Also, we are on the fence between a 5 day or 7 day. Did you feel like the 5 day was too short? Just right? When I price out an Ocean view the difference is about 500 less for a 5 day cruise (me, DH and DS). So DH thinks a 5 days is better on the wallet and would prefer that. Me, well....my thinking is that once we are there and on the ship I would feel like a 5 day is too short. Just wondering. Thanks for letting me know and again, thank you for taking the time to write this review and add all your pics.

We booked dolphin swim through carnival as UNEXSO doesn't book privately when ship is in port. Plus its easier for this excursion since it takes bus ride and boat ridr to get there. I do highly recommend it though - SO worth the money.

I thought 5 day wad a nice length - especially with that price difference. 7 days is nice, but 5 really wad a great length of time. It was a nice itinerary too with a day at sea at each end of ports. Plus you can always spend time in Charleston on either/both ends of cruise.

If you have amy other questions, feel free to ask!

Great review! Made me very excited about my Nov. cruise on the Fantasy, particularly the food. Haven't cruised on Carnival yet. From your review it sounds fun and relaxing.

LOVED the dolphins!

Thanks much!

I'm not sure how I missed this review. I usually read all the Fantasy reviews I see. I did this cruise solo in early May. We had a very listless Roll Call and no interest in a M&G. I've found the 5-nighters just don't have much activity, but it looks like you had a good group. Would've been nice (as a solo) to have been able to meet some people, but that's just the way it goes.

So, I sort of stumbled across a great price for 9/1 sailing and booked it yet again and have a friend coming along and she talked one of her friends into coming, too. I'll go from having a cabin all to myself to having 3 females all stuffed into an inside trying to get ready for dinner at the same time. It will be a challenge. :p

Yes, North Carolina is beautiful, isn't it? We have everything from the mountains (where my family is from originally, up in the NW corner of the state) to the beautiful Outer Banks, and everything in between.

And Charleston is one of my favorite places anywhere. I really encourage anyone who hasn't been there to consider sailing Fantasy. The fares have usually been higher from there because there's no competition, but they dropped recently. The 7-nighter to Nassau, HMC and Grand Turk is a good one.

I like the ship more and more. She certainly doesn't feel like the oldest ship in the fleet.

Thanks for the review and pics. Glad you and your boys enjoyed the cruise.
