sippican Posted August 17, 2014 #26 Share Posted August 17, 2014 I-cruiser, (quote function seems to have gone missing at the moment) Thank you for the additional information. I can't seem to locate either of those addresses in my sent box, so I probably used a different one. However, we are content to DIY with our rental car. We can go at our own pace and stop as the whim strikes us. We were able to reserve an automatic transmission (which DH will appreciate on the twists and turns of the road)

It is also my preferred choice. You might also want to ask for a gps.
Iluvcruising2 Posted August 17, 2014 #28 Share Posted August 17, 2014 We sailed on the Adventure of the Seas to Iceland and Norway this June 2014. Alesund was one of our stops. We did self-drive to Trollstigen. sippican Posted August 19, 2014 #31 Share Posted August 19, 2014 Thanks for the blog link, Iluvcruising2. I am concerned about my timeframe. We will have nine total hours in port. Allowing for rental pick up, etc. how much can we reasonably expect to see and do in seven hours time?
sippican Posted August 22, 2014 #32 Share Posted August 22, 2014 Can anyone help out with a suggested route? We will have seven hours (allowing for car pick up and return). Should we proceed partway on the Troll Path then backtrack, or is there a loop we could accomplish comfortably within that time period?
Rare Bruce4fun Posted September 5, 2014 #33 Share Posted September 5, 2014 Just returned from Norway and did Path of Trolls(Trollsteigen) with rent car from Alesund. Was very easy. Took circular route, also went to Trollvegan? Highest overhang which is only about another 10 minutes out of the way. Go via Stordal and Valdallen on the way up, drive down the switchbacks to the end of the valley. Return by the Fjord route at Andalsnes. The rent a car counter can program the GPS (which is necessary IMHO.) Our trip took from 8AM until about 2:30PM which still gave us about 2 hours in Alesund before we had to be back onboard our ship. We stopped at several waterfalls, for lunch, the visitors center, shopping, and still had time to spare. Went the speed limit the whole way also. Have FUN! It is exactly what I needed. Of course we are concerned about the timeframe, but it sounds like we will be able to accomplish the drive as planned. ISLABONITA Posted January 23, 2015 #35 Share Posted January 23, 2015 I organized a private Path of the Trolls tour out of Alesund for September 2014 (Norwegian Star). The link to the tour company is below. http://www.moereguide.com/index.php/en/towns/molde/path-of-the-trolls http://moereguide.com/index.php/en/towns/molde/path-of-the-trolls Cost of the tour (total for all persons) is Nok 14,500, which currently converts to $2425 US. I recruited others (we have 30 on our tour bus), so the price is about $70 each. 4774Papa How long did it take for them to respond? I have been waiting weeks now, I have sent a direct email, posted on FB page and filled out a contact form and still no reply. Any other contact email you used?
