Gemynii Posted July 23, 2013 #6 Share Posted July 23, 2013 Hi, everyone. This is my first time posting in the Photography section here on CC. I just got a new camera specifically for our cruise in December, so I thought I would post some pics from my very 1st "photo expedition" here for your opinions, critiques and advice. I'll start by saying that I could not afford a DSLR (even the cheap ones), but I wanted something that had more features than a point and shoot since I'd also like to take up photography as a hobby. I ended up buying the FujiFilm FinePix S4300. It has a broad range for ISO and shutter speed but, unfortunately, has a limited aperture (largest opening is 3.5). When my DD and myself went out to shoot (I gave her my old Canon PowerShot A560), we were swarmed by mosquitoes so I was unable to stand still long enough to adjust the settings except for changing the shutter speed to 50 on the water shot. The rest were taken in auto mode. I took about 100 pics, but here's 5 of them. Edited to add: Geez, the pictures sure lost a lot of sharpness after adjusting the dimensions. :( Please let me know what ya'll think. Old fallen tree in woods: Cool curvy trees: Boulder in standing water: Moving water with mangroves and crustaceans: Blooming weeds. Flowers are about the size of a pencil eraser. I am not an expert -- and I do have trouble viewing what I take due to eye problems. But -- looking at what you have posted -- your pictures are excellent. I love #3 the best. Krazy Kruizers Posted July 24, 2013 #14 Share Posted July 24, 2013 Yaay - our desert got some rain this evening. :) Looking next door. Within 5 minutes our street was a river. Drivers here don't know enough to slow down. Pictures are great. Glad you finally got some rain. We have had more than our share of horrible storms and torrential down pours. Sometimes we have gotten 2 inches in 1 1/2 hours.
