Booking a Guarantee on Princess Website

OK, I need the For Dummies version of how to book a Guarantee in lieu of choosing a specific cabin on the Princess Website. Princess told me you can't unless cabins are not available to select. I find that answer hard to believe. I went to my on-line TAs website and no problem, GUAR is right there to choose along with the available cabins. This is just since change of format.

I have had Princess agents tell me the same but I have been able to book a guarantee even when cabins are available.

Since the recategorization of cabins earlier this year, it doesn't make sense to book a guarantee as there will be a lot more available cabins in the desired category.

 

In some cases, the guarantee option appears, but not on all cruises. If you book a guarantee in a certain category when there are cabins still available, that is what you will probably end up with. Really good upgrades are becoming a rarity instead of the norm.
