Coral - Showers and Laundry

We're just off a wonderful 14-day cruise on the Coral and wanted to give a heads up on a few small things, and send kudos to Princess for attending quickly to our issues.

Regarding the shower ....

The water pressure in our shower was a weak fine mist at best. After using it the first morning, we met someone just two cabins down and inquired about their pressure for comparison. They described their pressure as "great" so we called maintenance. Maintenance came, found an issue and fixed the problem the same day we called, and we enjoyed good water pressure for the rest of the trip.

We were also surprised to discover there was no hand-held shower head. We've only traveled with Princess once before, but are not at all new to cruising and this was our first time in the tiny shower stall without a hand held. We asked our steward about it, and one was installed for our use.

So, our advice ... Be sure to ask if something's not quite right, Princess is attentive to their customers, and quickly remedied both of our shower issues.

And the laundry ....

I saw different prices regarding the washer and dryer. July 2013, we paid $2 for a wash and $2 for a dry, the detergent was $1.25. We did 5 loads over 2 weeks so that's a whole lot of quarters! We didn't have enough quarters, but the change machine in the laundry room had plenty. We did have to trade our larger bills for $1 bills to use the change machine, though. The main desk was accommodating in making the bill change for us.

Happy cruising!

Nice to know about the hand held. since the only cabins that have them are those that are handicapped. Guess who's going to ask for one next time? ;)

If you are going to Passenger Services to ask for small bills, you may as well ask them for a roll of quarters there.

One warning however: A roll of quarters will contain a combination of US quarters, Canadian quarters, and Princess casino tokens. If you are using them in the laundry on the ship, no problem - they all work. However, you may want to check and get the others replaced before you leave the ship if you have any left over.

Perhaps your Canadian quarters worked..the sign says to please use only US quarters, and my collection of CDN quarters did not work. This was in the machines on Plaza deck on Coral last month. EM

I think it's some mysterious law of the universe, but whenever I go to a Princess laundry, the coin machine is broken or out of coins. I now take a roll of quarters with me. The little extra weight balances the time and aggravation of standing in line at the reception desk. I also take those Purell sheets (of which I have a good supply since I bought them up when I found out they were being discontinued.)
