Seems odd to book nearly 2 yrs ahead of time but the prices appear so good. We have cruised twice with Viking River so we were discounted as a previous cruiser.

There was no lower verandahs available so we deposited on the penthouse verandah only with the understanding that when people cancel this December 31st because they cannot come up with the remainder we will get the V2 class OR get our deposit back.

I just received the Viking oceans book and it "posted" airlines from LAX was $1095. I am big with "if you post it you honor it"!:D

I do not even know why they would quote airline prices for 2 years from now!

Anyone cruising in a V2 verandah....you can cancel your trip anytime because we would love to move in on it!;)

We are booked on June 26 Homelands Stockholm to Bergen. We are new to cruising, only two previous, one on Viking.

Can anyone advise about location of cabins. We are on deck 8 and wondering if that is a good choice. Not many rooms on this level and view should be great but not sure about sports deck above and retractable roof.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you

We're on Deck 8 for the Empires of the Mediterranean maiden. We don't expect the sports deck to be a big deal at all, it won't be a young crowd on this ship and it's not like ziplines, rock walls, etc etc. Likewise, that retractable roof is just over the bool, not the side decks.

We took the cabin because we are avid photographers. Deck 8's what I call the "weather deck", and we have immediate access if anything interesting happens. Just being high is great.

I am booked on the May 2015 Homelands & asked about using my past customer discount & was told we could not use that discount on their Ocean Cruise. We sailed in Aug 2013 on the Danube & was disappointed in the food on the ship so we are really concerned about the new ship & especially the pricing.

Viking, how come some passengers can use the discount & others cannot?

Dear hersheyhughes,

We wanted to let you know that the Explorer Society Member discount can be applied toward Ocean cruises and your next cruise. We reached out to our Reservations team and they have applied it to your reservation. Hubby and I are booked on a Viking river cruise for August, 2015, and are considering a Viking ocean cruise for May, 2016. Would I be able to receive the Explorer Society Travel Credit of $200 per passenger for the May, 2016 sailing?

You are going to have the most wonderful time of your lives. I cannot say how much we enjoyed the Romantic Danube. So many wonderful places to visit & just floating down the Danube. We are on the May 16 2016 Ocean Cruise for the Homelands. Cannot wait. Viking gave us $300 per guest credit for past cruise credit. Hope you have a wonderful time. In August I will be thinking of you! Kimberly
