SeaWatch12 Posted August 11, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 11, 2013 Our ship will be tendered at Sorrento in mid October. Any advice/suggestions/recommendations for getting to Capri and tours of the island? Thanks, Mark
euro cruiser Posted August 11, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 11, 2013 It's easy to take a fast ferry from Sorrento (Marina Piccola) to Capri; it takes about a half hour to make the crossing. euro cruiser Posted August 11, 2013 #4 Share Posted August 11, 2013 My favorite thing to do on Capri is hike, but that's not to everyone's liking. I also love to take the chair lift (seggovia) from Anacapri to the top of Monte Solaro. You can get some good ideas here: http://www.capri.net
Rare Hlitner Posted August 12, 2013 #5 Share Posted August 12, 2013 For some strange reason we usually agree with Euro Cruiser. If its a nice day (not too hot) it can be fun to hike between Oia and Fira. And we also love the chair lift which is one of the best bargains on the island. The view from the top of Mt Solaro is breathtaking.... That being said, the chairlift is not a good thing for folks afraid of heights :) Hank

btke Posted September 2, 2013 #7 Share Posted September 2, 2013 We're planning the same thing in Nov. Would there be any issue to wait and buy ferry tickets once we're there? Easy to find once tendered in Sorrento?
Rare cruisemom42 Posted September 2, 2013 #8 Share Posted September 2, 2013 We're planning the same thing in Nov. Would there be any issue to wait and buy ferry tickets once we're there? Easy to find once tendered in Sorrento? There isn't any real need to buy the ferry tickets in advance, especially in November. Do keep in mind that the line to get tickets can sometimes take a while, so it's best to get there a bit in advance of the ferry time you want. I haven't tendered into Sorrento, so can't help with that.
