Crown Princess Balconies

Don't know if they are overlooked from above but do consider that the majority of the balcony cabins on Riviera are beneath the pool area and/or beneath the Horizon Court. As a result, they may be subject to early morning noise when the crew is cleaning the deck and setting up for breakfast. If there are any late evening/night deck parties, there could be a noise factor from that also.

It does look like as long as you stay forward of R310, you will be below the cabins on Lido.

Just looked at my Cruise Atlas deck plans and the Lido deck is the same width as the Riviera deck so no one should be able to overlook your balcony.

Good luck with your choice.

Many thanks. We are looking at forward cabins.

We are looking at a first time cruise on Princess (Crown) and finding a good rate for a balcony on the Riviera deck.

Are these balconies overlooked from the deck(s) above?

Thank you.

Just off the Crown last week in a Rivera cabin in the 400s, so I can answer.

1. Rivera balconies are not overlooked from the Lido (or other) decks.

2. Noise was no issue for us, yes we did hear occasional noise mostly from kids running above. But nothing that disturbed us. Others have reported unacceptable noise, but my experience was what it was.

These balconies are fully covered. You can not see onto them from the deck above. In the cabins from R601 back you might hear some chair noise in the morning from the Horizon Ct. above. In the cabins from R601 to the center stairwell you probably will hear the MUTS (Movies Under The Stars) sound during the daytime and evening hours on your balcony, but not in the cabin with the balcony door closed, and not overnight. The forward cabins are most likely noise free. I would stay in any of these cabins. You are also only one flight up to the pool areas, and Horizon Ct., and the Terrace Pool is straight out the aft doors on the Riviera Deck, just follow the hallway to the end and exit the doors.

Where are you sailing?

If its your first cruise remember the higher up you are the more movement. There is also more movement at the front so take some travel sickness pills with you... just in case! ;-)

For our first cruise we booked Caribe deck mid-aft (the balconies are half covered so a good degree of privacy and you can still sit out if it rains) There was no movement but we did Alaska so it was calm.

We were on the Crown this year and it was a bit choppy on the Bay of Biscay. We booked Caribe again (aft) but we had to retire early on one occasion because of the movement.

It may have just been that particular cruise and a different 'clientele' than Alaska but the Crown is a big ship and there was a lot of general noise compared with the Sapphire, even on the lower decks away from the pool areas.

Wherever you are, you'll have a great time! :-)

We have just come off the Crown today from the Fjords.

We were in R632, towards the rear near lifts, absolutely NO problem with anything, ideal for the Horizon Court, Adult Swimming Pool/Jucuzzi at the rear. Ryan(Steward) was great. We are back on 9th Sept on the Riviera deck and have no problem with that.

Oh and Hello to All that we met on board...You know who you are? :)
