Going on a short cruise to Cozumel in December. Want to go downtown to go shopping and for a bite of Mexican food. Do you have to pay at the restaurants in peso's, or can you use American dollars? Also, how much is the cab fare from the cruise terminal to downtown? Thanks for any help you can offer.:)

American dollars are always welcome. Taxi fees will vary depending upon where your ship is docked.

 

http://www.panchosbackyard.com/ is a good restaurant, but you will need to go by taxi. Sorry, but I do not remember the cost.

 

http://www.loscincosoles.com/ Los Cinco Soles is good for shopping. No haggling or pressure. Store is very clean and staff is great.

You can use U.S. $$ everywhere in Cozumel, however, use small bills. It is sometimes possible if you make a small purchase with a large bill they may try to give you change in Peso.
