was just looking at the required travel documentation for Canadians. what does this mean?

A permanent resident card or green card is what is issued by the US Department of State to people who want to live and work in the US but aren't citizens.

If sailing from a US Port:

 

The following requirements are for sailings from a United States port to the Caribbean, Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada/New England, Hawaii, Alaska, Panama Canal and Mexico.

 

United States and Canadian Citizens:

 

You MUST have one of the following:

 

 

• A valid United States or Canadian passport. For additional United States passport information visit the United States Department of State travel information website or the Passport Canada website. Canadian passport is fine. A tip...take photocopies of them and keep them in a place separate from the originals. Never bring the originals with you on shore excursions if you need photo ID, bring your drivers licence or the photocopy.

If you are something other than a Canadian citizen, this applies to you. If not, don't worry about it.
