supercruisedad Posted September 29, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 29, 2013 Can we take the streetcar from Canal street all the way to the Audubon Zoo and Audubon Park? Some places say it runs that far, and others say it stops long before getting there, possibly due to construction??? If it's just under construction, will it be open before January 2014? tallyho8 Posted September 30, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 30, 2013 They are rebuilding the streetcar tracks at this time. They have them finished from Canal St. to Napoleon which is about a mile from Audubon Park. When you get to the construction zone you transfer to a bus which takes you the rest of the way to the park. When you get to the park it is almost a one mile walk through the park to the zoo but it is a very nice scenic walk.
WLHyatt Posted October 3, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 3, 2013 There is a shuttle van that runs about every 15 minutes from the street car drop off and main entrance to Audubon park, to the entrance of the zoo. You can walk the roughly 1 mile walk through the park/golf course or take the shuttle. Remember the zoo is pretty spread out and you will be doing ALOT of walking once inside, so that may come into consideration when deciding if you want to use the van.
