Want to minimize the amount of cash we carry - what is the surcharge if you get dollars to spend in the casino? I searched the forum since I'm certain this was discussed but can't find it. Thanks for your help.

There is a 5% surcharge.

It used to be 3% but most recent threads as noted above say 5%. Either way you can definitely get cash at the casino.

Wanted to add that you can cash 1 cheque at guest relations, no charge up to $200 I believe.

Bring the cash...carry large bills, as they less bulky. You can break down large bills on the ship, and store your cash in the safe. If 2 (or more) of you are traveling, split the cash between you...keep it on your person at all times! Don't pack it in a suitcase!

 

It makes no sense to PAY to access your money...especially for gambling! You've already lost if you have to pay a percentage!

If you have to pay the 5% surcharge (Club Royale members do not) it is worth noting that the cash advance shows on your credit card statement as a regular purchase so no extra interest charge is applied from the day you get the cash until payment due date. Also, your onboard account is not charged to your credit card until the day of departure.

We agree; the safe can hold a lot of $100 bills! We even bring some home once in a while.
