What is a 2.0 upgrade on Carnival?

We just booked the Freedom ship for next Sept and I just found out that the ship will be dry docked from March until May 2014 because of a 2.0 upgrade. What all does that mean if anyone knows?

The ship will most likely get more than just the 2.0 upgrade. Stay tuned for an official announcement from carnival

Most of the work will probably involve installing redundancy systems and generator system upgrades. You'll appreciate the toilets that always flush and a ship that can limp itself back to port. The rest is marketing hype.

The biggest change to me (since I am into music) is that it eliminates the cover bands.

Now the old Stage Band takes the place of the fabulous Asian bands that Carnival is known for.

While the Stage Bands are a group of very talented musicians....they are not a cover band.

A Stage Band depends on the lead female vocalist to carry all the sets as far as entertainment is concerned....the rest of the members just throw in some harmony....

A true cover band has all members that sing and entertain.
