Cabanas at Castaway Cay

Hello, we were just wondering how you get a cabana on Castaway Cay. Do you have to wait till you are onboard to reserve one or can you pre book one thru shore excursions. Thanks in advance !

You can pre book through the web site once your booking window opens. This varies by the Type of cabin you are in and how often you've sailed with DCL,in the past. They go very quickly, but don't give up, sometimes there are cancellations, so even if you can't get one the first time, keep checking and ask once in lard as well.

If you are a first time Disney cruiser, your chances of getting one aren't good. Reading the roll call for my Disney cruise last year, the Cabanas had all been reserved the first day that reservations opened for platinum members (120 days out). There are cancellations but remember there are only about 20 cabanas to start with.

Not necessarily true. If they are booked into a concierge stateroom and book as soon as their window opens, the chances are near 100%.

From what I've heard they keep one on the family beach and one on serenity bay open for concierge to book on board (not showing up on website). So if you can't get one before cruising you can check on board and if it wasn't taken by someone in concierge you might be able to snag one. We got one with friends back in March 2012. Of the 4 on Serenity Bay only the two our group booked (19 & 20) were being used. Some of our friends wanted one for the 2nd stop at CC and were able to get 21 for that day.

Good luck!

What annoyed us was we wanted a cabana on Serenity Bay, and they all booked on plat open and never cleared. But as we sat on the beach there were some that were obviously never used (and in two cases never even opened!)

They hold one or two for weddings. Ask after you board, every day, as they release them a day or two Into the cruise.

The bottom line is to not give up and keep asking--even after boarding--if you want one.

Yes, they book quickly, but some are held back and never available on line. This is only a few, not like Palo/Remy where 1/2 of the reservations are held. BUT, they don't want to have to say "no" to a guest paying concierge rates and/or to a wedding party (although why a wedding party would be a last minute booking is beyond my mental abilities).

There are always people who need or want to cancel for some reason. If DCL can "resell" their reservation, they will not be charged. SO, if you let guest services and port adventures know that you want one and someone inquires about the cancellation policy, you could be in luck.

We've even seen the Walt suite available for an at the port upgrade on one cruise--yup, last minute medical situation forced a cancellation according to the CM and it was such short notice that they hadn't been able to offer it to their wait list!
