alwaysReady2travel Posted November 17, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 17, 2013 Arriving Miami Airport domestic and looking for the cheapest way for ONE PERSON to get to the Port of Miami... cruise transfer seems like a hassle and waiting game, I've heard that cabs are flat $26 +tip I arrive close to noon, so I can't believe somebody else might want to share a cab to the port from the airport at that time, but Ive never done this before solo... anybody? alwaysReady2travel Posted November 17, 2013 Author #2 Share Posted November 17, 2013 that's "might NOT want to share a cab" as in...there must be OTHERS also needing to go the port who don't fill a cab (or am I just an optimist?) hahaha Arriving Miami Airport domestic and looking for the cheapest wayfor ONE PERSON to get to the Port of Miami... cruise transfer seems like a hassle and waiting game, I've heard that cabs are flat $26 +tip I arrive close to noon, so I can't believe somebody else might want to share a cab to the port from the airport at that time, but Ive never done this before solo... anybody? thinfool Posted November 18, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 18, 2013 Have you posted this on the Roll Call for your cruise here on CC? It can't hurt. There is a way to get there on public transportation, but I have never done so. So, next best, IMO, is a taxi.
alwaysReady2travel Posted November 18, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted November 18, 2013 good idea, thinfool. I'll try that
eandj Posted November 18, 2013 #5 Share Posted November 18, 2013 We actually had someone approach us at the cab stand. She offered to split our cab. She saw our cruise tags on our suitcases...same ship. We were happy to split the fare. At noon you will see lots of cruisers headed to the port. Just ask a couple to share. Rare Keith1010 Posted November 18, 2013 #7 Share Posted November 18, 2013 I would not try to share a cab for the simple reason that flights do not always get in on time and trying to coordinate it will be very difficult between potential flight delays and also the time to claim luggage for those checking it in. Sharing a cab leaving the ship is a different story. Keith
BlueHerons Posted November 18, 2013 #8 Share Posted November 18, 2013 You've got a noon arrival for a same day cruise? Your biggest worry should be making it to the ship before it leaves instead of saving money on a cab.
Isa65 Posted November 18, 2013 #9 Share Posted November 18, 2013 (edited) Why not the cruiseline's transportation? $15 per person and you're certain to make it there on time.... And if this is for your Carnival cruise, you can even check in at MIA upon arrival. Edited November 18, 2013 by Isa65

Sharing a cab leaving the ship is a different story. Keith I agree not to try to set up a shared cab ahead of time. As Keith says, stuff happens to delay. This works great when disembarking. I wouldn't use cruise transfers either. You'll sit around until all the other cruisers' flights have arrived, bags claimed, loaded etc. Either pick up a shared ride while waiting at the cab stop or go it alone.
