JMARINER Posted December 18, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 18, 2013 U.S. health officials issue travel advisory for St. Maartin I wonder it this will affect the Navigators winter voyages? "U.S. health officials issued an advisory on Wednesday about travel to the Caribbean island of St. Maartin due to concerns about a mosquito-borne virus. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, or CDC, said in a statement it was tracking reports of the chikungunya virus............" Rare RachelG Posted December 19, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 19, 2013 No worries here as there are always advisories for mosquito born illness in Oklahoma in the summer!
Sunprince Posted December 19, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 19, 2013 We are boarding Navigator on the 23rd and are not stopping at St Martin. Not sure if any of the other winter itineraries on the Nav include sxm. Either way, this sounds very similar to west nile which is so prevalent in North America now. Just wear some repellent and don't worry. 10 people infected does to sound like an epidemic to me and likely not for a cruise ship passenger visiting during daylight hours (Mosquitos are more pesky during dawn/dusk time)
