Carnival Sunshine was all sunshine

Recommended Posts

:) Just off the Sunshine on Sunday. Everything was great. We loved the ship and the itinerary. Cabin was comfortable (2310 oceanview). Ports were Belize, Roatan and Cozumel. We loved New Orleans and enjoyed walking all over the city. Embarkation was very efficient. We were in our rooms by 1:30 and luggage was delivered by 4pm. Food was very good at all venues. We saw one bucket from a dripping sprinkler. The serenity area is amazing. We would love to sail this ship again. We did self assist debarkation and were in our car by 7:45.:) It rained one sea day for about 10 minutes. We were very fortunate with the weather. We did a Victor Boden tour where we snorkeled, saw the monkeys and toured the island in Roatan. In Belize the winds were up and it had rained the day before, all tour excursions were canceled. We did a carriage tour. We felt safe the entire time out of the gates. In Cozumel we did Mayan Ruins and Paradise Beach. Loved it all!! No complaints about anything. Those of you who are booked on Carnival Sunshine and worried about previous reviews. Forget it. It is a great ship.

I agree... we got off Sunday Morning as well. Overall a very positive experience. We had a first time cruiser with us and she loved the Sunshine. The regular dining room was great.... The shows were very good.

The main showroom and Limelight Lounge (comedy club) are small but we planned ahead and always got a good seat. I plan on writing a longer review later this week.

Sailed on the Sunshine in December and just booked again for next late November. To be fair I don't think the Sunshine quite compares to the Breeze that I sailed on last year as a whole. They took the same designs and squeezed them into a smaller ship. But that is only part of it, great weather and ports also have to be part of the equation right? The shining star of the Sunshine IMO is the outdoor Serenity area. When I was on the Breeze I didn't even go to the Serenity area because it was right next to the kids splash zone, it was small and cramped, and always full of people. On the Sunshine we were out there every day and sometimes later at night in the hot tub. The staff was great and hard working there too; knew are names and were around every 10 mins minimum. So I booked again because of the Serenity area and the Eastern Caribbean iteniary; see you all there!

We took a taxi from the port in Cozumel to the ruins, he waited on us and took us to Paradise Beach, for the four of us it cost $84. for the taxi. Then $9. each to get into the ruins and then $14. taxi to port from Paradise Beach. We would do it the same. Plenty of taxis in Cozumel.

Thanks for the great report. My family has be counting the days for several weeks now. It is almost time. We board on Feb 2. Can't wait.

We have not worried much about the negative reports. We have kept in mind that people with negative comments tend to post comments. People with positive comments often don't post.

And it will be a bonus to watch the super bowl on the ship and see the Seahawks beat Denver!

I was seriously concerned that we had made a mistake after seeing the reviews. I believe you find what you are looking for. We all wanted and needed a wonderful vacation and that is what we received.

We're booked on May 2nd - we booked a casino player's club deal, and since it was cheap and use frequent flyer points for our flights, we feel the same way. I didn't realize it was a refurb, and thought it was a new ship - so I was momentarily concerned - but hey, it really is what you make of it - there is always plenty of food and service is always better than doing my own dishes at home! :D I do appreciate how it feels when you've spent a few years of vacation savings and end up with a boatload of disappointment though - you can't always overlook the things that just aren't up to par, especially when you are looking for them.

My advice for those booked on the ship and maybe second guessing it - stop reading reviews - the more you are LOOKING for the less than perfect parts of the cruise, the more you will find them. And from the sounds of it - plan to have a cocktail in the comedy club before the show so you get a seat :) BTW I was on the Liberty twice and had difficulty getting a seat, but in the tiny club on the Spirit you could walk right in, half the guests couldn't FIND the comedy club :)
