Dream / Breeze / Magic

Have never sailed Carnival but I keep hearing about how much people love these cove balconies so we've decided to try one.

If you have been on all 3 ships, which do you prefer and why? Which one has the best waterpark (for a 16 year old AND the parents, we're just bigger 16 year olds, lol).

Do any of these ships have a promenade with parades and parties?

The Carnival Dream, Carnival Breeze, and Carnival Magic are basically the same ship. The Carnival Dream was introduced in 2009, the Magic in 2011, and the Breeze in 2012. All three ships have cove balconies and all three ships don't have the large promenades like the larger Royal Caribbean ships. I sailed on the Carnival Dream in August 2012 with my family during Hurricane Ernesto. Due to the storm we stopped at our first scheduled port, Cozumel. Then because we were sailing towards the storm we changed course and headed for Progresso, Mexico, Freeport, Bahamas, and Nassau, Bahamas. The cove balconies are great and located closer to the water. We had one located midship which was between two lifeboats on the starboard side of the ship. It was such a nice location that we are scheduled for another cove balcony on the Carnival Breeze on August 16th to San Juan Puerto Rico, St Martin, St Kitts, and Grand Turk. The eight day voyage leaves on a Saturday from Miami and returns the following Sunday. There are plenty of activities on all three vessels that will keep everyone in your family occupied!

The Breeze and Magic have about the same top decks. Both have the same waterpark, and both have Sportsquare ropes course. The Dream has a smaller twister slide than the Breeze/Magic and no splash park area, but it does have 2 racing slides. The Dream also doesn't have a ropes course. BTW, all of the waterparks are pretty amazing; the top of the slide is the highest point on the ship and you get amazing views.

A great feature of this class of ships is the Lanai exterior promenade on deck 5. You can walk around the whole ship. There's always an empty chair there, and there are 4 hot tubs cantilevered over the side of the ship which are rarely crowded. There's even an outdoor bbq on sea days.

If you book a Cove Balcony make sure you check what is above your cabin. A lot of the Mid-Ship ones are underneath the Galley and there is noise reported in the all through the night. Better reviews seem to be from those that are closer to forward.

There are a lot of videos of the ships on YouTube. There are some really good ones showing the slides that your kids might be interested in.

We have sailed all 3 - and enjoyed them ALL!

Out of these choices, I think our favorite is still the Breeze - it is the most "complete" since it has the 2.0 upgrades. Guy's Burgers, Blue Iguana, Bonsai, Sea Day Brunch, etc - in addition to the Red Frog pub that is on the Magic.

The lanai space was redesigned for the Magic - so it flows better than the Dream. They added more food options on the Magic and even more to the Breeze - which helps with crowd control especially on sea days.

We MUCH prefer the décor of the Breeze. No neon - very open and relaxing - resort like right down to the uniforms worn by the crew.
