Did you do the spa at all? We have a spa balcony on deck 14.

Spa is fantastic. My friend and I purchased passes for the week, we loved hanging out on the heated loungers and made use of the thermal spa. They hand out a limited amount of passes and so it never really felt crowded.

Thank you for all your great comments. Very helpful. We will be on the 3/22 sailing. It is my understanding that one night is the "formal" night. Do you remember which day of the cruise that took place on?

Eek, just came of the Getaway and if there was an actual formal night we totally missed it :D. Now I I definitely did not see anyone in actual formal wear (tuxes and gowns), but you can wear whatever you like (including a gown) any given day, there are photographers that are happy to take your pictures everywhere. I wore a bunch of sparkly dresses, "just because" :D. Tuesday night they had "red carpet pictures" as you made your way to H2O for the fireworks and we enjoyed that, but again, you can take pictures and dress up whenever you want.

That was a awesome review, thanks!! We leave this Saturday for our trip and can't wait. This question is for you and really anyone else that can offer some advice on the dress code for dinner, etc.. This is my wife's first cruise ever and mine in about 20 years. I assume we can pretty much wear whatever we want to breakfest, if we are up that early :), and lunch, but is there a suggested dress code for dinner? Sounds like some of the dinner places are a bit more formal than others. I appreciate any suggestions that you may have. Thanks! Ken

the avg dress for the dining rooms and specialty restaurants consisted of nice button up shirts/polo type collared shirts, khaki pants. For women, half wore long dresses half nice shirts/pants

Thank you for taking the time to post your review and answer questions. Do you remember what deck you board on and whether it is in the front or back of the ship? Thank you!

Im pretty sure we boarded on deck 6 front, it was the same deck as the shore excursions desks, cruise consultants, cup cake shop

There is no set formal night, but there were a few Tuxedos in the crowd, you can dress how you want. Most of the time i was in gym shorts/t shirt

Do you recall the table minimums in thd casino for craps or 21....how smokey was it in there? Thanks

Never went to the spa sorry, Craps min. was 10, blackjack had all different tables with min ranging from 5-100 a hand. The casino is so expansive that the smoke isnt too too bad cuz its just huge lol.

LOL. St. Maarten. I remember this day because it was my birthday:). We took the ferry over to Anguilla to the Dolphin Encounter.

did you go to Anguilla w/ship's tour or on your own? how long is the crossing to Anguilla and how much time did you actually have there?

if you took ferry on your own, assume you took taxi to ferry dock. if so, how was traffic getting back? if ship's tour, do they take you by bus to ferry?

very interested in hearing about Anguilla - thank you.

great 'quickie' review, OP. short, succinct w/lots of good info - thank you!

Thanks for the tips and info' date=' hammsz! This is the most informative review I've read thus far. Did anyone dress in costume for the 80s party?[/quote']

I plan on using a whole can of Aqua Net, and making my hair as "big" as I can get it! I was a pro back in the day ;)

LOL. And don't forget your shoulder pads. Back in the day we used to joke that with their big helmet hair and shoulder padded evening gowns, those ladies on Dallas and Dynasty could've played linebackers for the Green Bay Packers!

Hi: we plan on booking the getaway for April 2015. I enjoyed your review but have some more questions. How is the adult pool area? We r use to being on Princess and Norwegian is a first for us. Do you know any alcohol prices, i.e. Buckets of beer, house glass of wine.....any info you can provide is most appreciated:)

No, THIS chick was a pro, you should aim for this volume...hell yeah:cool:

(though the funny thing is, if you went that big, you'd never be able to turn around and walk out of your narrow stateroom bathroom door, lmao)

There isn't an adult pool on the Getaway. There is an adults only area called Spice H20, but no pool there. There is another adult only area called Vibe that one can purchase access to, but no pool there either.

The cruise staff went ALL OUT! With aqua net, Huge hair, neon colors, just awesome. It will be way cooler and more fun if you dress up. Some dude came with a bag of white gloves with LED lights in them and passed em out. The music is perfect from B52s to Lauper to Jackson to Def Leppard, its incredibly loud, Best sound system at sea and i was there 2 hours to take it all in.

buckets of beer are your typical 5 (16 oz) aluminum bud lights for 25, house wine around 8 dollars a glass, there was a center pool that got hardly any use cuz its under the slides and not many chairs are in the vicinity so i had that pool to myself lots of times.

We went on the ship's excursion. I did the dolphin encounter and my husband went as an observer (about $30 difference). We met at the pier. The ride was approximately 50 minutes to an hour. The tour guide gives you history on the Dutch and French side as well as pointing out things of interest for each. Once we reached the island, there is a short bus ride to the beach. It is a small, nice clean beach with chairs, lounges and a covered area. We were divided in groups of two. One group would utilize the beach for an hour, while the other group would have an hour with the dolphins. After the hour, those on the beach would have their time with the dolphins and those who spent time with the dolphins first, will now have an hour of beach time.

Before entering the water, instructions are given on how to interact with the dolphin such as the correct hand language for a kiss, dance, etc. You are fitted with your life jacket, a welcome picture is taken and off to the water you go. There is a photographer taking pictures for each performance lead by the trainer such as dancing with the dolphin, a kiss on the check/mouth, playing with the ball, etc. The downside to the pictures, is that they are pricey:(

After our time was up we boarded the bus and were taken to a location for lunch (burgers, chips and a drink). This is also the location where you can change clothes, purchase pictures or souvenirs. Now, regarding the pictures, SPOILER ALERT: You do not get the actual pictures!! You view all pictures taken of you on the computer and you have the option of having all the pictures put on a CD for you, or pick only the ones you want. Now, the downside, just purchasing one picture on the CD was $30.00. This means unless you are going to print the picture(s) at home, you still have to pay to have the picture(s) printed.

Overall, it was a wonderful experience that I participated in. The trainer was very gentle, attentive, and friendly. The dolphins are adorable, well-trained, and enjoyable animals.
