durangoscots Posted March 7, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 7, 2014 There is an outbreak here in one of our assisted living facilities. I know because an activity that I usually help with was cancelled as right now they are restricting visitors. Susan
sail7seas Posted March 7, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 7, 2014 Noro virus is the second most common illness..... second only to the common cold. It will be found at one time or another in every hospital, dorm, nursing home, hotel, cruise ship, school, and every other place where people gather. Cruise ships get the tons of publicity because it has to be reported when the percentage of crew and/or guests reaches a certain point. That reporting makes the info available to news organizations who seem to thrive on reporting it. Hotels do not report .... they don't have to and seeing people are constantly coming and going, it is near impossible to know who might have had it and there is not the interaction between guests the way there is on cruise ships. Krazy Kruizers Posted March 7, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 7, 2014 Right Mary Noro can hit any facility at any time. Last year a couple of schools closed because of it and had to be thoroughly cleaned. Also had a hospital get hit with it and patients weren't allowed to have visitors.
