Tropicale in August of 1990. I was 18 and went with my entire family, all 6 of us. Quite the expense back then. Flew to San Juan and did a 7 day Southern Iteniery. Caracus, Grenada, Aruba, St. Thomas, and I can't remember the rest.

The Holiday, she was an oldie but goodie, got me hooked

We did three cruises on Holiday.

I miss her...and Mobile...

Our first Carnival cruise was Sensation meets Katrina.

It was the last cruise to come back into New Orleans for a long time.

That last sea day was interesting as they were racing to get back into the river.

It was the closest I have been to sea sick so far.

We got back on evacuation day.

New Orleans was surprisingly calm, but we got on our way asap.

They loaded up the next bunch of folks onto the ship and left at two instead of four.

And then the river was closed.

I heard that things in New Orleans started getting a bit stressful at about 3pm that day.

Most of those people had to have lost their cars.

It was before the parking garage was built and parking was down by the river.

Well, they were only cars, and a lot of people lost much more.

Our first was the Sensation 7 days from Tampa, going to Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and New Orleans. We sailed in an inside cabin with our at the time 3 year old son. My dh wasn't too sure about a cruise after an earlier mid 80s cruise on ncl. He has been hooked on cruising ever since. Loved the itinerary it was great spending a day in New Orleans visiting Bourbon Street and Riverwalk.

Carnival Triumph. Still number one cruise for service, from room steward to DR waiters to bar staff. Also received an unbelievable upgrade from 1A inside to a room on deck ten with a floor to ceiling window! And didn't know about it until we checked in!

Despite all the troubles with Triumph and Carnival, we have never had anything close to a bad cruise.
