Royal Caribbean excursion red stripe beach, Falmouth

Recommended Posts

Hello all, we wanted to do something other than sit on the ship in Falmouth, Jamaica. We were thinking about The Red Stripe beach which is a Royal Caribbean excursion. Has anyone been on this lately and is it better than doing nothing in that port? We've seen mixed reviews, the price is pretty cheap. Thanks in advance!

Have you checked out the Jamaica port of call board? There are several threads on Red Stripe beach.

We went to Falmouth last month and visited Dunn River Falls. [cruise excursion] It was great. There are lots of good things to do in Jamaica. However, it is not the kind of place you just get off the ship and walk around the city on your own.

The cruise port is clean and safe--but, very artificial.

We went to red stripe in March. It's a shirt ride from the port, there are chairs and shade, a bar and cafe of sorts, beach is ok, sand is fine, wager is nice. Went with ships excursion, very reasonable and safe. Security on the beach and some entertainment. Would do it again. Have been to Jamaica many times, including a week at all inclusive resort, just wanted a decent beach with shade and that's what we got.

We booked the Bamboo Beach excursion through the ship in January. The only drawback for me is the drive to Ocho Rios, otherwise it was great. Good food and drink and the beach was really nice, not crowded at all. I'm guess the crowds were at Dunn's River falls or the Martha Brae float trip. It was more expensive than Red Strip, but the food and drinks were included at Bamboo Beach.
