VIFP point credit for cruise in early 90's?

I asked this before my last cruise but I'm not sure I got the right answer... I cruised on the Carnival Holiday in the early 90's but that cruise doesn't show on my VIFP. I was told at the time that only cruises since 2006 would show up. I thought I read somewhere on Carnival's website that they go back as far as 1972 or something like that. Does anyone know if I can get my VIFP account to show that cruise (and point credits)?

Thanks

I cruised on the Holiday in 1989. I just received my VIFP points 2 weeks ago. I filled out online info and they contacted me via email......

I actually had the boarding pass in with some photos - I send a picture of it and my points were credited the next day.

Thanks, I'll have to search through the archives to see what documentation I still have of this cruise -- so long ago and my first Carnival cruise. I think I can come up with pictures taken as we boarded, maybe other items as well. Wish me luck!

I had to have a 1983 Festivale cruise added to my history. I submitted my embarkation photo and a copy of my DL.

Prior to the VIFP program that cruise showed up in my history by ship name but not details as to cabin number. After VIFP it shows up in my total cruises and number of days but it's not specifically listed in my history.

I have somewhat of a similar issue : The sailing is in my VIFP profile but I am not credited with the seven days for that cruise. I spoke to someone at Carnival who told the reason for that is, that particular cruise is showing as "free cruise". It never was. She told me to send a copy of the cruise ticket in.I am still searching for it. Instead of being at 93 sea-days I showing 86..not a big deal right now, but it's still a deal.

Well that's kind of a related issue for my sister too.

We've taken all of our cruises together, but on one cruise she won the free cruise for 2 in a cat 12 suite playing bingo.

Prior to VIFP the free cruise that we went on was in her history listed just like mine, but after VIFP they still list the cruise in her history but don't count the cruise or the 7 days in her profile because it was a non-revenue cruise.

Well, it's a non-revenue cruise for me too, but it's counted in my profile.

So I made Diamond on our cruise last Halloween, but she didn't make Diamond until our cruise in January.........moot point now, but it still pizzed her off................

I'm missing 4 past cruises - one was a 4 day the rest 7 day. I find it ridiculous that Carnival is asking for the kind of proof that they are - I mean - who keeps stuff like this for years and years? Plus, I feel it's Carnival's fault that their computer system had kicked out past cruise info. - also when they changed over their system they lost our military proof so now I have to resubmit that - which is not a big deal because I have the paperwork for that. But really, paperwork, photos date stamped from 20 years ago. I'm not upset that I will not get credited though but I still find that Carnival is making it too difficult to prove previous sailings. JMHO.

Also, while we are on the subject, cruises on other CCL owned lines like Costa do not accrue VIFP points, correct?

No, the cruises on sister lines do not count on Carnival or anywhere but the line in which you earned them.

You use to get past guest rates on any sister line, but I'm hearing that is changing too.

I think Carnival has some of the worst IT people in the business, there always seems to be a glitch in one way or another.

I also have a cruise from 1984 that I can never get credit for because I don't have any proof. When I first started trying to get the 1983/1984 cruises added I already had almost 20 cruises. They would give me credit for 1983 but refused me on 1984.......Like after 20 cruises I would lie about 1 seven day cruise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My sister cruised twice in the mid-80s, but had no luck getting credit for them when we booked our family cruise. PVP cross-checked by birthdate and maiden and married name (she has since remarried). One was her class reunion and the other was a honeymoon. Neither turned up so she had to cruise as a new cruiser. Good luck.

OK, that's what I understood, just wanted to verify.

I was on Festivale in June 1992 for our honeymoon, which was booked in my maiden name. In Carnival's website in the VIFP section, you can request them to ad a missing cruise, as another poster mentioned. I didn't know if I'd be able to get credit for it due to the name change, but I provided all information (booking number, cabin number, sailing dates and itinerary...yes, we kept all of that) and under comments I explained it was our honeymoon and booked in my maiden name (provided that) and also provided my current married name. I got Carnival's email acknowledgement of the request and credit just a few days later. Because of Festivale being our honeymoon cruise in my maiden name, I had a separate past guest number for that, so they moved everything to my current past guest/VIFP number and got rid of the old one.

My dh sailed in 93 and couldn't remember the boat, but he did get credit for the cruise and when we sailed in 2011 he actually got a gold card and was invited to the past guest party. He didn't go in deference to me, but they gave hime credit nonetheless! :)

  • 2 months later...

Just a few days ago I was on the phone with Carnival to upgrade my current booking to a Balcony Cabin because of the half year sale. I asked the Carnival Rep. if it was possible to add our first cruise that we took 20 years ago on Carnival Festivale without a booking number. She said that all I had to do was send some photos of us onboard the Carnival Ship and they would be able to identify the ship. I sent a photo montage of us onboard (not official photos) as well as a copy of an Art Auction Brochure, a Certificate of Authenticity from Art purchased onboard the ship, and a copy of a Casino Gaming Brochure from the ship. I was sure that once they knew that I purchase Art that it would be a Breeze :)

I did not use the form letter on Carnivals site, the Customer Service Rep gave me this e-mail address pastguest@carnival.com to send my documentation to.

It was credited to our VIFP accounts within just a few days of sending copies of our documents.
