Amsterdam changing ports in Costa Rica?

We are scheduled to dock in Puerto Caldera May 5. Our private tour guide has said that he's been told HAL has changed ports and will be using Puntarenas instead. Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks.

I'm on the Westy right now. My docs said puerto caldera but we did go to punteranas. I think you'll have a good chance of going there.

The last couple of years that we have done the repositioning cruises -- our documents also said that we would be at Puerto Caldera.

But when we got the shore excursion booklet in our cabin, it listed Puntarenas instead.

You may not find out until the night before--if it says Puntarenas on your daily schedule, you will almost certainly dock there.

Last month aboard the STATENDAM we were scheduled to dock at the industrial Pier in Puerto Caldera. Just before arriving we were informed it was docking at the 'Tourist Dock' in Puntarenas. No definitive answer as to why, but it made the T-shirt shops and bars happy. Locomotiveman
