skeeter195 Posted April 30, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 30, 2014 Has anyone been on the Gem as Golden recently and not in a suite? Did you get the Breakfast and lunch Cagney's perk? Also, how was the concierge service if you were not in a suite? Last time when I was not in a suite, the concierge was excellent on the Jewel. Lastly, did you get the priority seating for shows? That was a nice perk also. Thanks

cruisegal98 Posted April 30, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 30, 2014 I will be going on Friday on a one night cruise in the Gem, I will let you know the perks for a one night cruise as Golden. I am also going on a 7 night on June 7th on the Gem and I am also curious to know the answers to your questions. I will post when I come back the perks I received as both Golden CAS and platinum Latitudes.
skeeter195 Posted May 1, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted May 1, 2014 Thanks for the info. The CAS checkin in NYC is great, but the addition of the VIP area would be even nicer.

The CAS checkin in NYC is great, but the addition of the VIP area would be even nicer. Hi! I know that I have seen a thread or two in the past in which people have mentioned priority boarding in NYC for CAS passengers. Since you both mentioned it, I was hoping you could confirm...in NYC, there is indeed priority boarding for CAS guests, not just priority check-in? iimmie, did you have priority boarding because you are Golden, or were other CAS guests given this perk, as well? We are actually travelling through CAS on a voucher from a land-based casino. We get invitations to the casino reception and drink cards, and were considered casino guests when we sailed last summer from Boston (where there is priority check-in only) on another voucher. So, I am just wondering if we'll also be able to enjoy this nice perk to kick off our vacation...it's not that big of a deal, but it's nice to be a little "special" once in a while :p:D
skeeter195 Posted May 1, 2014 Author #6 Share Posted May 1, 2014 I went out of NY in October(Breakaway) on a land based voucher and had the CAS priority check-in and boarding(right after the suites) and again in February(Gem) as Hot level, same things. I am now Golden and I believe that I will have the VIP waiting area and be first on.

skeeter195 Posted May 1, 2014 Author #8 Share Posted May 1, 2014 I am not sure what ship you are sailing on, but the casino party on the Gem was pretty good in the Bliss lounge at 5:00 the first day. Open bar, hourdevours for abour an hour. The one on the Breakaway was not so good. It was a the casino bar and only had champagne and rum punch. clcjdn Posted May 1, 2014 #9 Share Posted May 1, 2014 Do they do a casino party on the Getaway? I have "hot" status, will I be able to participate if they have one? Thanks!
Rare Dorhead1230 Posted May 1, 2014 #10 Share Posted May 1, 2014 Oh hooray, we are on the Gem! It was nice on the Dawn last summer. It was in the casino, but they served very tasty canapés and, although they were only passing the champagne and rum punch, I am pretty sure they brought people whatever they asked for. We laughed because they liquored you up for an hour and then...opened the casino...shocker! :p Thanks again for the additional info, and enjoy your Golden perks on your cruise! You board 1st at the front of the ship which is nice as its a shorter walk to guest services (for people looking to score Vibe passes) To cruisegal going on the 1 nighter Gem tonight, maybe i will see you in the VIP room or the casino, but if I don't, good luck to you! Thanks for the info! I am assuming with the front/back of the ship and Vibe passes you're talking about BA? We'll actually be on the Gem, and I think there is only one spot where you get on, similar to the Dawn, right? It will be nice to have a slightly shorter wait to embark. Have a great time on your CTN...good luck in the casino :).
cruisegal98 Posted May 3, 2014 #13 Share Posted May 3, 2014 Just an FYI for CAS guests. I achieved Golden on my March 7, 2014 1 nighter non the gem. I was told this by the cruise host and I confirmed by email with CAS. When I got onboard yesterday on another one nighter I was given a HOT level card so I went to the Casino desk and told them an error had been made that I was Golden as of March 7,2014. They told me that the levels change April 1st 2014 and I am no longer Golden. I need to get another 3200 points to become Golden since point expire at the end of March? I then called CAS since I had not left port yet and they told me that I was Golden for 3 weeks (of which I was not on a ship)? This is a crazy system and I was under the assumption I would be Golden for a year. Hope you guys have better luck with your levels.

You earn it in a year, and have it for the rest of that year, until the re-evaluation date (3/31/??). If you've requalified, then you have it for another year....otherwise, bye-bye. My next sailing I'm 700 points short of Golden, so I should get it by end of day 1... but won't get the benefits until the next cruise, and probably only once before they expire again next March. . Sabiney Posted May 3, 2014 #15 Share Posted May 3, 2014 What am I missing here? I thought that after each March 31 you kept your level for the coming year (like Harrah's) and had between April thru March to maintain or exceed it. So, if I ended March as Golden, I start out as Lucky on April 1st. Pat

So, if I ended March as Golden, I start out as Lucky on April 1st. Pat Hi Pat, I thought the same and it depends. It seems you start at the level for which you earned points in the previous year. I was Hot from my March 2013 trip and I earned 13,900 points in March 2014 -Adding those together moved me to Golden during my March 2014 cruise. (FYI- My Casino card and drink card were upgraded at casino desk But did not receive any other perks) The evaluation period ended on March 31 so when I cruise in August since I only earned 13,900 points during the previous evalustion period, I will only be Hot and will need to earn another 1101 points to make Golden. Whatever points you earn in the prior calendar yr (mar - apr) determines your tier level/status for the next year. So determine how many points you earned from April 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014 - if greater than 5001 and less than 15001 then Hot, if more than 15001 and less than 35001 then Golden and if greater than 35001 then VIP. Robin in a prior post helped explain it to me . Thanks Robin for the explanation! Think I may understand it now! ;) Barbara Edited May 3, 2014 by cruisingcasinos

Hi. It may depend on the ship but I was in similar position last month-- 700 points short of VIP when I boarded the Gem in early April. Although generally I've been told that the benefits do not go into effect until the next cruise, on the gem she accorded me all VIP benefits except the soda package immediately. The casino manager said she was doing so because I earned the points the first night. So, as soon as you hit 700, you should ask what they can do for you. bradship Posted August 29, 2014 #21 Share Posted August 29, 2014 I will be golden on my next sail in Nov. How will check-in in NY know that I'm Golden and put me in the VIP embarkation waiting room? Harriet If you will be Golden prior to sailing, tell the greeters that you are VIP. Your cabin number SHOULD be on the Concierge's VIP list and you should be escorted to the Suite Guests' lounge area. That is how it's supposed to work. Of course the time that I was Golden without also having a suite, was right when the Breakaway system wasn't recognized on other ships, and they couldn't prove I was Golden until after the casino opened post-sailaway. This benefit falls under the VIP Royal Treatment category. If they've done it properly, this is the procedure to follow as your keys will already be printed, and will be in the VIP Lounge. Stephen . bradship Posted August 29, 2014 #24 Share Posted August 29, 2014 Thanks, Stephen and Harriet. We are in a balcony. I won't expect anything but I will keep my eye out for greeters and just tell anyone that even looks like an employee about the golden status. Obviously I'm very excited about reaching this and I don't want to miss out. Same attitude about Cagneys breakfast/lunch. Also, I don't smoke, but they will give me a pack of cigs each day? That seems nuts, lol Once onboard, I wills speak to the host. Are they also considered my concierge? Been on Breakaway twice and this time will be my first on gem. I made golden midway through my last sailing and breakaway hosts were very kind.
