hi

We are off in 3 weeks for a 2 week med cruise on independence of the sea's

now we have a 6 & 8 year old girls traveling and was wondering if they can wear their smart play-suits in the Main dining room? they are ones that are designed for night time wear and cost me a small fortune but if they are not allowed then i wont take them - want to follow the rules - they do also have some dresses too.

just really curious so we dont pack the wrong things.

thank you

I'm not sure what a "play suit" is....as long as they aren't PJ's...they'll likely be fine!

Girls/women, the dinner suggested dress is: pants, skirts, sundresses, capris.....on casual nights.

Rccl does not have any dress codes they have suggesting for the dress of the day no enforcement is done, saw many people in shorts and t-shirts in MDR, was a little diappointed that they have no standards anymore.

They wouldn't be appropriate on formal nights, and I think you'll have 4 of those. One thing to think about is how many evenings will you even be on the ship for evening meals? If port times are into the late evenings, you may end up dining in port instead of on the ship.

I've only been on RCCL once, and DS was 9 or 10 at the time. He wore a suit and tie on formal nights and long pants on other evenngs. Of course, even when we cruised when he was 3.5, he wore a suit for formal nights and long pants the other evenings.

Thank you

Will keep the play suits for nights at the buffet and if any nights we are off the ship for dinner

I think for girls, they would be fine on non-formal nights. To keep packing to a minimum, we have always had our DS change into an outfit for dinner, and then changed afterward so the outfits for dinner were worn more than once. I know in Europe, they tend to eat later than in the US with kids, so I don't know if your girls would be going to the kids' program after dinner. Our DS did, which is why we always had him change.
