Dinner seating times

Hi all, we are considering a cruise on the QE, the deal is balcony cabin (uninterupted view guarantee) but allocated evening Dinner (Britannia)seating once on board.

Our preference is allways for a late sitting.

How easy is it to obtain this once on board icon5.gif

Or is it not possible if you have been allocated an early sitting ?

Thanks

Henry

No problem at all. If you are allocated the early sitting the Maitre d' will gladly swap you to late as there is always a shortage of seats on first sitting for some inexplicable reason.

Possibly because a lot of older people prefer to eat early?

Our experience on Cunard ships is that later dining (in general) is very popular with British guests and earlier (in general) is more popular with Americans. So, the specific population---what nationalities-- of your voyage will have an influence with what will be the most sought after dining time…

I have noticed that dining room staff tries to be very accommodating with requests for changes. We were on the QE for 36 days in 2013 and talked to a number of guests who had their time assignment changed while on the ship.

Make your wishes known and feel confident every effort will be made to keep you happy.

I thought the dining room staff on the QE was great!

The QE is a great ship and you will have a wonderful time sailing on her. We sure did!

I just wonder that with the new 'restrictions' on Saver fares if this will still remain true ??

Go to your "personaliser" and the "accommodation" drop down at the top of the page.

You can change your preference to 2nd sitting and the size of the table you prefer. It does say you will find out what you have been allocated onboard but at least it gives them a clue about your preferences.

How are the dining times on embarkation day in QG restaurant. We will be on board around 1:30 pm. Hope to get a light lunch in the restaurant.

Last July the grills restaurants on QM2 served lunch from 1:00 to 2:30 on embarkation days. Bon appetit!

We had no problem eating in either Princess or Queens Grill on embarkation day. At 1:30, you can get your table assignment, as well as lunch. This would be the best time to discuss with the Maitre D about possible table change. I'm basing this on a table for 2. Not sure how it would work for a larger seating.
