What Beach to choose

My family headed over to Melia when ported at Nassau (thanks to comments from the boards). It was $30 for the day pass. Was worth it to us. There is a nice beach, several pools (one was heated), hot tubs, kayaks (etc) and a casino :) I think the cab ride over was like $5 per person. Oh and for your Starbucks addicts like me there was a Starbucks in the hotel lobby and one in the casino :)

If you are looking for a relatively inexpensive, friendly beach day, try Wyndham Nassau. We went there on 1.7.14. Took the $1.25 jitney # 10 from Downtown to Cable Beach (pick-up at the corner of W. Bay St. & George St. near the Straw Market). We asked a few friendly folks to point us in the right direction.

A day pass at Wyndham is $20 pp (even for a 7 year old), but it includes beach chairs, all nonmotorized water sports (kayak, paddle board, paddle boat and floats), use of their pool with slide and use of the pools at Melia next door. They need a $10 deposit for towels, but it's refunded at the end of the day.

No food is included but they have a small restaurant outside and will give you 10% off.

The pool at Wyndham is not heated, but we are from New England so it did not bother us. Overall, it was a fun day.

Is the slide open, we had read that it was closed for some time. Going at

Easter with Grandchildren.

Thanks for the heads up. If you don't mind me asking - how was the food at Wyndham? We have a room for the day at the Melia/Sheraton, but reviews on their food are bad. Maybe we could hop over for lunch to the Wyndham if the food is better over there?

Can we just walk in and get the passes for $20 the day we are there? We are there this Thursday? Can we use their internet as well? Thanks! Also if we take the bus where do we go once we get off? Also what is the restaurant called near the hotel you talked about?

Was the casino in the Wyndham Hotel or does Melia have their own casino? This sounds exactly like what I'm looking for... beach with lots to do, eat, drink, play on/with watersports PLUS a casino for the grown-ups!!1

Thanks...

I do believe that Sheraton and the Wydnam share the same casino.

So, they both charge the same price, there are 14 of us ranging in age from 11 - 85 are you allowed to suggest which one is good for us? We just want to enjoy either the pool or beach, use/rent maybe some jetskis, eat, drink and gamble... Do you think either one would give us a discount ? Thanks..

You guys are so awesome for helping us out... :)

Wyndham is $20/ Melia is $30.

But we are now seeing posts that the tiki bar and swim up bar are closed at the Wyndham Of course, you can walk over to use the Melia property. So far they haven't restricted use by wyndham guests.

Hands down the Melia is usually the best all around option If you don't have port time constraints. They might give a group discount because of the amount of passes you would buy. I've never heard of then doing so

I'm headed to Nassau in a few weeks on a cruise. I haven't been there in nearly 25 years and it seems that all of the hotels on Cable Beach have changed ownership--probably several times. I can't even find a website for the Sheraton that I find mentioned in many threads about day passes. The Wyndham day pass for $20 seems like the best deal for my family of 6. We just want to be able to use the beach activities and can pay to eat in a restaurant if needed. Can anyone confirm that we can just show up at the hotel (after taking the jitney from the port) and pay for the passes? Also, does anyone have any updated information on other hotels nearby that might have similar day passes available? Years ago I walked from what I believe is now Breezes over to the Crystal Palace. From what can tell, it hasn't been the crystal palace in a long time. And Breezes was Wyndham when I was last there (1991). So I'm pretty confused and can't piece together all the info on various threads to figure out which is most up to date. This thread seemed to be the best, so I'm just trying to confirm the info. Unfortunately my travel agent doesn't have any info. Thanks.

As of Dec 1, 2013, the Sheraton is now the Melia. Crystal Palace Casino is still open on a limited basis, and is located in the Wyndham (which used to be the Marriott). 2 towers of they Wyndham have been taken down.

Breezes wasn't the Wyndham, but down the beach a bit. There was the Nassau Beach Hotel, between the Wyndham and Breezes (I think Breezes was the Ambassador?).

So NOW there is Breezes, which is all-inclusive for $65. (adults and over 14 only) Wyndham - $30 pp. 1/2 price for kids and Melia $30pp. 1/2 price for kids and $50 with lunch, or $75 with buffet.

The new Bahamar project is being built around the wyndham/Melia, which is due to open 2014.

Thank you for this - We are heading there next week and I am trying to decide between the Wyndham and the Hilton. The Hilton gives a $40 pp food credit but is the Wyndham on a nicer beach? Does it have a nicer pool? Thanks again for your help

ok I was getting lost but now I understand. Sheraton/Meili are the same. Not sure where the RUI is but Breezes just down the beach. The Breezes won't fit for us. We really just want a pool, few drinks and beautiful view. Maybe a walk along the beach. Breezes we are not interested in water toys.

So now I will keep reading all the reviews and try and decide

Guess its between Sheraton, Wyndham maybe Rui. Which ever is the prettiest.

Do you happen to remember what watersports were included in the $30 and which ones were an extra fee?

Can anyone tell me what the Wyndham offers ?

We were in Nassau this week staying at the Melia. The Wyndham guests had use of the Melia property because their pools were closed. I'm not sure what is going on at the Wyndham but it may have something to do with the Baha Mar construction project which is huge and right next door to the Wyndham.

The construction did not impact us while at the Melia.
