Late Embarkation in Quebec City

We are booked on a C/NE cruise on the Veendam embarking and overnighting in Quebec City. I called HAL and the rep said it's okay to embark after the cruise ship terminal closes at 4pm by going directly to the ship, but somehow that makes me a little uneasy. Have you had any experience with this or know anyone who has? Any thoughts on doing something like this?

I am doing the same thing and have been assured by my PCC that there will be no problem. I have also seen posts, in the past, about people doing this without incident. Hope it goes well for both of us.

I have not done this, but did see this done, with a RCI ship if I recall... They were embarking directly with their bags, around 7 pm I think. Didn't seem a big issue.

Last September we saw people embarking at 1 a.m. - they go to the front desk to get processed. Easy.
