I try to pack light, hubby says I over pack but I usually do a load or two of laundry on cruises where we tag a day or two before and after. I take "pods" soap and fabric softener in one. On the Magic you can use your sail and sign card older ships quarters from the casino. Timing is everything. Avoid cruise elegant night!!! always a mad house as people are trying to press out garments. Also don't plan on last day of cruise. Everyone wants to go home with clean clothes. I put everything in a plastic bag and the bag go in a rolling suitcase to the laundry room. Wash dry and fold the back in the suitcase. Most machines run about 30 mins. there was a thread on CC a few days ago about being courteous to your fellow laundry users. May rule of thumb. If the dryer is not still warm you have forgot about your clothing.

Second all of this - and the pods are great to pack! A good time to go is if you return early from port as they are generally empty. Last year we were across and a couple of doors down from a launderette and the line for the iron on elegant night was just stupid. I opened out stateroom door to go check on our daughters and a guy fell into our room that had been leaning against the door.

I am amazed at all the people who do laundry on a cruise. I am on vacation and that means vacation from cooking, cleaning, laundry etc. I send laundry out to be done, even on lines where I have to pay for it.

On Carnival sending out laundry is a no-brainer since DH is Platinum and I am Diamond.

I really don't like to do laundry either on a cruise or vacation, however when you're flying, it's hard to pack enough stuff to get thru 10 days + and not have to pay a fortune for luggage. We're (I think) going to fly SW because of their free luggage however--and with our cpaps and other carryon's and my oxygen concentrator we're going to have enough stuff to pack around ha! If I can do a load of laundry I can pack lighter. (of course I still pack too much stuff ha!)

Rest assured, I don't like doing laundry either however there are a few things I am not going to trust to the ship laundry.
