A Day in Rome before flying out

We debark at Civitavecchia at 7 am on August 25th but don't fly out until 7 pm. There are 5 of us plus all our luggage. The short tours by Holland America only last 4 hours but start at 7.30 am, still giving us an 8-hour wait at the airport.

The 8-hour 'private' tour by H-M looks interesting although expensive. The comments I've seen look good. Has anyone any recent experience of these, please? Do they hold 5 plus Driver and Guide comfortably? Air conditioned? What is a 'Van'?

Do they drop you at the airport? ... and any other useful tips, please!

I'm looking at an evening flight after my cruise. Something besides an expensive tour you can store your luggage at the train station and then tour at your leisure. That is what we plan on doing.

What is H-M? Can you point us toward additional info?

 

A number of private tours will offer similar services. You will have to contact them to discuss the number of your party and your luggage to determine what size vehicle is most appropriate. A small van may not work if you anticipate significant luggage. An 8-person van would be more likely to accommodate you.

Hmmm, that is one I haven't heard, and doesn't seem logical. Most just use HAL.

 

I would suggest getting a private vender like the wonderful Rome in Limo for an 8 hour tour. We did this exact thing a few years ago. They will drop you at the airport.
