Wow I better keep tabs on it...but im thinking this thing is going to hit sat night early sun so may be more of a late sail than anything.

There was a situation in San Juan a coupe of years ago where both Royal and Carnival had ships that due to incoming weather had to leave the port early (like 5 hours early). Many cruisers had gotten off the ship to explore San Juan only to find that the ships had left.

Could be over for SJ by Saturday night/early Sunday. Unless you're heading to Turks Caicao as first port, you might have fair weather. It's not a huge storm and is getting chewed up a bit by wind shear and then by the PR mountains. For those flying in on Saturday to SJ, there may be some delays.

this was on Carnival's website

August 1, 2014 – 12:00pm

We are closely monitoring the track of Tropical Storm Bertha which has formed in the Caribbean. All of the Carnival ships are currently operating their scheduled itineraries. In addition, we have not made any itinerary changes at this time for cruises departing today or this weekend.

Rest assured, the safety and comfort of our guests and crew is our number one priority. We will operate our ships at a safe distance from the storm at all times.

We will provide another update at 5PM EST. However, should we need to make any interim changes, we will post them on this page.

Tropical Storm Bertha Update

August 1, 2014 – 5:00pm

We continue to closely monitor the track of Tropical Storm Bertha in the Caribbean and the following itinerary revisions are necessary in order to operate at a safe distance from the storm:

Carnival Liberty, departure Friday 8/1/14 – will now cancel the call in Grand Turk on Sunday and replace it with a call in Nassau on Friday. Additionally, we have modified the sequence and times of our visits to San Juan, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten, which will allow us to operate away from the storm and provide guests with a more enjoyable time ashore.

Carnival Valor, departure Sunday 8/3/14 – there is a possibility the ship’s arrival into San Juan may be delayed should the Port of San Juan be closed. We ask guests to text CCL1 to CRUISE (278473) and continue to check this page for updates.

At this time, all other Carnival ships sailing this weekend are operating their scheduled itineraries.

Rest assured, the safety and comfort of our guests and crew is our number one priority. We will operate our ships at a safe distance from the storm at all times.

We will provide another update at 12PM (Noon) EST on Saturday 8/2/14. However, should we need to make any interim changes, we will post them on this page.
