Just got off the phone with Carnival. Poor thing didn't really know what she was talking about, but I think we may have come to an understanding...

If you fully fund your account with the Gift Cards, and have a balance left over at the end of the sailing, you will receive a refund to the Gift Card, NOT via cash/check. ie, Fund your account with $600 worth of Gift Cards, spend $475, get $125 back on Gift Card.

She also seemed to have some confusion over whether or not you needed to put down a credit card/cash for deposit when using GC - I don't think you do if you're funding an amount that meets Carnival's reocmmendation for your sailing length, but there may be some question on that.

So since I was planning on funding my account with $300, but not planning on spending that much, I think I'll go ahead and only buy 2 $100 GCs. That way I'm not left with money left over on a GC at the end - I want cold hard cash on anything left over :p

Just cash out any leftovers the last night of the cruise, via the slots in the casino.

No, you do not need to put down a credit card/cash for deposit. I have used only the gift cards for the past three cruises with no problems at all.

Thank you for posting about this. I'll be buying some e gift cards tonight to use put in our S&S account during our honeymoon cruise. I wish I would have found this before I booked the cruise though, I could have saved $100 on booking through the Verizon program. Oh well, now I know to check Verizon before we book our next one. :)

Has anybody truly ordered these e-cards. I get all the way to the end to try to pay for them and they say they are sold out.

When you try to call the contact us number it tries to sell you more stuff and when you respond with "no" type responses it drops my call every time.

No worries. :)

Log into your Verizon account. On your home page, there is a big square with your bill payment info. Next to that is a "Notifications Center". Under that it states your Verizon Smart Rewards and should show a balance, with a clickable "Redeem Now". That will take you into the site for using the points. Click on Travel, and then on the left hand side, Travel Gift Cards. The Carnival Cruise dollars are near the top, scroll further down for the E-cards.

Hope that helps! :)

Thank you so much!!! Even I was able to follow those instructions!!! ;0)

I got sold out message too . . . on both $50 and $100

Yikes, I just tried to buy another one and got the "sold out" message during check out as well. I'm glad I got some the other day before they sold out. They must of had a ton of people buying them. LOL

I will try again tomorrow to see if they become available again.

Yes, I bought several of the e-gift cards before they sold out.

The Kohl's gift card is sold out as well. This Rewards program is new for Verizon so maybe they didn't know how popular it would be.

They will probably have to go back to their vendor partners to get access to additional gift cards. I will keep checking for a few days to see if the Carnival ones become available again.

I just tried to purchase a Carnival e-gift card. I got all the way to check out and hit submit and the response I got was that the cards were sold out. My credit card got charged the $90 but I have nothing to show for it. No gift card and no confirmation. I'm hoping the gift card will show up in my email or the pending charge will drop off my credit card. Why is it that anything associated with Carnival Cruise Lines doesn't come easy or as advertised?

Yes, approvals shown for each time I attempted. Now wondering if approvals shown as pending transactions AND I had to remove the eCertificate from the shopping cart just what is going to happen. Worse case, nothing happens and approvals drop off. BEST CASE, I would receive all those eCertificates and could apply the excess to a new cruise.
