PaperSniper4 Posted August 5, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 5, 2014 (edited) We have a Rhine River cruise planned June 2015. I have started looking for airfare. Holy Cow! $1700 per person? And that's straight "economy"! My current preferred route and dates are MEM-AMS on 5 June and ZRH on 16 June. Seems like the last time I looked at this route the prices were about $200 less per person. Any suggestions? I prefer DL as I have about 60k points with them. Doug I would sign up for KLM's deals on their website. I'm forever getting $1000-1100 all-in return offers from the west coast for Vancouver-Europe. Zach1213 Posted August 5, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 5, 2014 ITA Matrix shows about $1700 across the board for flights MEM-AMS and ZRH-MEM for those dates. Sorry, but it doesn't look like you'll get much cheaper at this point. Tickets have only been on sale for less than a month or so and COULD go down, but could also go up. It's, of course, the height of European travel season, so you have that going against you.
TruckerDave Posted August 5, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 5, 2014 June is peak travel season to Europe. And forget what you paid last time (whenever that was) it has no bearing on what you will pay now and in the future.
PaperSniper4 Posted August 5, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted August 5, 2014 I would sign up for KLM's deals on their website. I'm forever getting $1000-1100 all-in return offers from the west coast for Vancouver-Europe. I checked on KLM's web site, the flights are the same price as Delta's. Since they are "partners" I suppose that makes sense. $1785 times two each seems like a heck of a lot of money! The Rhine River cruise is $5000 total.....irks me to pay an additional 75% of that just to sit in an airplane, uncomfortable for so many hours. That is probably another reason why I HATE flying! I did not see a why to "sign up for deals" on their website. I saw a place to sign up for their E-Newsletter which I did.
