What is the best outdoor and indoor bar on the STAR?

My upcoming January Panama Canal will be our first cruise on the Star.

Our Roll Call is planning a Celebration Cocktail Party to celebrate the end of the transit.

Which outdoor bar is the best?

While we are talking about bars....what is your favorite one inside? :)

We liked the Bier Garten which overlooks the pool area below.

For inside, we liked the Star Bar, but I am not sure if it is open to public anymore.

We sailed the last Panama Canal crossing this spring. The Biergarten is possible, part of the space is non-smoking. It will be hot and humid to be outside. The Star bar is open to all and has some great views, it is very small. We had an aft suite so used the suite and invited others to join us. The Captain opened the helicopter deck to people for viewing. We had friends sailing in an forward suite so went there instead. The Gatsby's bar is lovely but small.

The biergarten for outside and sailaway is great. Also for anytime you want to enjoy outside,:D our favorite place on ship. For inside Gatsbys is the spot.;)

I can't tell for sure, but is Gatsby's where Magnums would usually be?

Thanks

I don't know anything about Magnums but on the Star Gatsby's is just outside the entrances to Le Bistro. and to La Cucina.

It is next to the casino.

Another vote for the Bier Garden. Inside I have to go with the Red Lion pub.

The Red Lion pub is too spread out and there are always people walking through the narrow floor space between bar and tables.

Outside, another vote for the Bier Garten.

Inside, we love the Red Lion for live music (usually a solo act most nights), watching sports, and good bartenders. Servers are hit or miss. Star Bar is also high on our list, but tends to be slower. Less "fun" and more "relaxing." We often did pre-dinner drinks in the Star Bar, and came back for a dessert martini and piano on nights we wanted to take it easy. If we were looking for a little more energy and a beer or simple cocktail, we'd head to the Red Lion.

Of course if you want to dance (we never do), or want a "show band," neither of these choices are good.
