Changing to Select Dining

We are leaving August 31 for Bermuda on the Summit, when we booked the cruise we took the earling seating for dinner. Now that the cruise is getting closer we think that 6:00PM will be a bit too early to eat. Does anyone know if we can change this to select dining?

Call Celebrity direct or talk to the Maitre'D first thing after you board. Should not be an issue.

We just returned from the Summit (8/17 sailing). We had early traditional dining, but noticed very long lines for Select dining especially on Formal nights.

We tried set dining on our first cruise & found it a little restrictive & were going to try & change to any time but we were very lucky & had a great group of people on our table so stayed as we were.

Apparently sometimes it can be an issue, depends on how popular Select is for your particular cruise. The different dining assignments on Celebrity are pretty much capacity controlled, with so many slots for Select, so many for early and late Traditional. As mentioned above, speak to the maitre d' soon after you board and see what can be done. Hopefully it will work out for you!

If you change to Select you will also have to prepay the gratuities. Those are the rules at Celebrity. Many threads discuss the prepaid gratuities for Select if you care to search.

So if you change to Select on the ship, after being assigned fixed dining before the cruise, will the pre-paid gratuities come out of your OBC then?

If you change to Select once on the ship, the gratuities will be charged to your seapass daily just like they would have been for regular dining. I've done this before. And for precisely the reason you mention--I had a lot of OBC.

I strongly suggest you make the dining change as soon as possible. On our last cruise select was full and I heard from a number of people who could not change from set dining even the first day.

I agree. Select dining is very popular and it might be impossible to change onboard.

As others have said, book it now if you can. We are 76 days out and Select is 'wait listed'. We are hoping that some of thoes that dont make final pymt on Wed will have taken that option and we can get in.

If Select isn't available pre-cruise, you might be better off to see if you can upgrade your cabin to Aqua so you can dine in Blu. That will give you the flexibility in dining times that you really desire.
