Decorating the Door

I have always wanted to write on those dry boards.....now I will. And I may decorate this time. I was jealous on our last princess cruise bc they decorate all the doors with celebrations. It was cool seeing how many birthdays and such there were.

Last cruise I made a dry erase board out of a plastic page protector and slid a colored page with the CC logo on it. worked fine and at the end of the week I through it out. EVERYONE was writing on it. I'd leave messages on it to let people know where I was off too.

We did it once with a vertical, custom made banner from an online party store for our son's 1st cruise/4th of July. It was under $20 I think and fit the door perfectly. We used command hooks and fun tak to hang it.

I know you can't post the actual website here, but could you possibly provide a hint as to what it might've been? Pretty please?

I love to decorate our door and don't let the 'nay-sayers' get me down! Go for it and do whatever you want to your door. However, remember that adhesives are frowned upon. Use magnets or easy on/off tape. And make sure your decorations don't block the door handles or make it difficult to enter/leave the room. Esp for the room stewards. Have fun!!

I've never decorated our door but now I totally will! I seriously feel like you are a genius! Why have I never thought of this before? This will definitely make it easier to find the door after a few beverages.:D

What a great idea! Me too! It will be tropical fish and glittery stickers for sure!

Oh nice, I havent ever seen any decorated on any of our Carnival cruises, but we decorated on our Disney and it was fun, I think we will do it on our next Carnival!! We used the printable magnet paper and it stuck really well. These were our Disney door decorations, used my printer and photoshop.

NEMom, I love that you celebrate AdoptionDay! My daughter is also adopted and we've been celebrating Happy Adoption Day since she joined our family at 9 months. It used to be ChuckECheese...I was soooo happy when it became spa day for the two of us and a friend on our beach vacation. Now she is in college, no clue what this year's celebration day will be. At the very least it will be celebrated in my heart. Oh, I always read "Happy Adoption Day" by John McCutcheon to her. She makes protest noises but never tells me to stop.

I never have, but we're getting married on embarkation day on our next cruise, so we're putting up a "Just Married" sign :D

Maybe it will be a new tradition for us!

Congrats! I had made us a "Just Married" sign on our honeymoon cruise. [emoji3] This next time I'm going to find some anniversary and graduation decorations at the dollar store since we're double celebrating.

Thanks... She is my world and I share the adoption story with anyone you asks... Jan 25th will be her 2nd cruise... We are planning a HUGE Disney one when she turns 5 with 3 other families that have adopted children the same time...

any suggestions for the best way to find out if the doors on the conquest are metal? if not, will regular scotch tape work?? the only other time i decorated was when we took DD along (she was 18 months old that time), but we have talked about it and she wants to me to do it again this time for her first "remember" cruise (she is 6 yo for this one, lol)...DH & I will be celebrating our 15 yr anniversary, and Natl Talk Like a Pirate Day is while we our on the ship, too...i am sure i can find something decor-worthy, haha!

I love to decorate my door, even if I am in the front at the last cabin! It makes it homie-this next cruise I am traveling with a woman with memory problems. Her husband hates flamingos, so I am doing the door with pink flamingos.:D that way she will recognize the doors. In fact we are going to the zoo in Nassau just to see the flamingos. ( I usually decorate with fish, or what ever holiday it is)

Googled it and it appears that none of the carnival doors are metal, I think sticky tack would probably be best, it wont remove any paint and sticks even heavy items. Too bad, the metal door was nice, our magnet printer paper stuck great

Yep. Always decorate our doors. Funny story about one experience.

I took my 80+ year old Dad on his 1st cruise, along with my 2 sons, ages 12 and 15 at the time. We had 2 inside cabins 3 doors down from each other.

The doors were metal so I used magnetic tape to hang our signs. It made spotting our cabins very easy. Or so I thought.

I'm coming down the hall one night and as I get closer to our cabins, I see my Southern Daddy fiddling with his room card trying to open the cabin door. Lots of good old Southern expletives are flying. As I approach, I realize the signs have been moved to different doors (assuming some teens took the liberty of doing so as it was spring break). Dad hadn't paid any attention to his cabin number after the 1st day and was relying on the door signs. LOL. :D When I use poster tacky to hang them, I don't seem to have that problem.

Happy decorating!

Gina

That's too funny Eeyo..... I decorated last cruise, a ship GPS, complete with manually moved 'ship' that I moved along each day. I almost posted a photo of it but after seeing the other photo's, I realized how amature it was. So I'm a bit embarrassed. Although, I though it was great at the time.

I have a great idea for my next cruise (Oct. 11). If it works and this thread is still going, I'll post a photo.

Party stores have their luau and summer themed decorations on clearance now to make room for Halloween stuff. Just picked up a bunch of really cute fish and shell decals as well as a small sign with fish on it so DS can decorate the doors. Got more than enough for 2 cabin doors, plus fun tak for $9 total.
