Paying For Another Room's Dining/Spa?

Hello there! I booked two mini-suite cabins on the Gem in March. One room will be for the hubby and I, while the other will hold my parents - neither of whom had ever been on a cruise before.

I am paying for their fare/excursions/PPG, and they are aware that they will be using their own credit card for their cabin on-board expenses BUT I was wondering, if I would be able to put something like a specialty dining cost OR a spa pass for both cabins on my ship card, as opposed to them having to use theirs?

I ask because my parents tend to be on the thrifty side and I know they wouldn't splurge on themselves for something like dinner at Cagney's. I'd be more than happy to cover the cost of specialty dining for all of us, and their spa passes, but do want them to have autonomy for the rest of their spending in the shops, bars, etc.

I'm specifically concerned about the spa passes, which I would like to run up and purchase as soon as we board, for all four of us, without having to drag them up as they're taking in the ship etc. Could I just give them a cabin number and do it that way?

Any advice is appreciated!

There should be no problem for you to purchase Spa passes for both rooms. It is not like Vibe passes where each key card must be shown. You can do as you described and run up and get them yourself. They will either give you the stickers for the cards at that point or they will get them placed on the cards at their first visit to the spa.

As for dining it can work just like a restaurant. Just let the host/hostess or your server know that you would be picking up the tab for the dinners or dinner and drinks. At the end of the meal the bill would only be presented to you. Or as an alternative you could always make your reservations online before hand, in which case you pre-pay and there will be no need for a bill for the food portion.

Thank you Rochelle! That's a relief! The dining I figured would likely work as you had described, but I wasn't sure about the Spa passes. I know my folks are likely going to be awed when they first walk on (I know I was!) and I'd like for them to take their time exploring. I'll run up to the spa quickly while they do so and try to get those hot passes! :D

re: spa pass

I surely do not know your parents.

BUT - I know that those that love the spa really love it and think everyone does. When, in reality, some could care less and would not use it. On our last two cruises, we had passes (via Casino) to use the spa, but never did.

Just a thought and I of course have no idea what the parents may or may not like.
