MACE Posted October 11, 2014 #51 Share Posted October 11, 2014 (edited) Yes, we sailed right on time.:) The welcome aboard show was at 7pm in the theater. We did not sign any waivers for those activities, but you have to sign one for the Hippo Slide in GSC. There was no waiting for anything! Just amazing. :D JoAnn: Thank you so much for your feedback! Being Saturday and a day at sea, hope you're all enjoying your last sea/cruise day! Don't know if you partake in the Casino, but if you do: we wish you luck @ your game of chance and that you have a safe journey home! I don't gamble much but I did come out ahead on the slots. :D This cruise was wonderful! It was the best family vacation yet. The staff were always happy and helpful and really took time to talk to all of us.

ncklhaus Posted October 12, 2014 Author #55 Share Posted October 12, 2014 I was just wondering if you'd run across a bartender named Big Al while on board. He was one of our favorites from the Star and he said he might be going to the Breakaway when we last saw him. We're going to be on board in November, just wondering if he is still around. Thanks! There is a bartender on board that calls himself Big Al. I think his nametag says Alejandro though. He's at the bar Maltings on deck 8.

bsblindab Posted October 15, 2014 #65 Share Posted October 15, 2014 when you boarded, did you go to the buffet or the dining room? Is the dining room open on embarkment day? My sisterinlaw and brother leave on the 26th. He has issues walking and I think the dining room would be better for him. they still allow soda on board don't they? yj2cute Posted October 16, 2014 #67 Share Posted October 16, 2014 If one wants to make a change to dining reservations in the MDR, where do they go at boarding? Do they go to the MDR?
Rare conandrob240 Posted October 16, 2014 #68 Share Posted October 16, 2014 ? How would you make a change to MDR reservations? They are all open and freestyle-no ressies needed. Unless you are with a large group?

My sisterinlaw and brother leave on the 26th. He has issues walking and I think the dining room would be better for him. they still allow soda on board don't they? We went to the Main Dining Room. I think it was Taste. The scallops prepared like escargot was amazing! We brought a case (36 cans) of Coca Cola and 2 12 packs of Poland Spring water with us. They checked our waters to make sure it was not alcohol. I only know this because it was brought to our room after the rest of our luggage and a few bottles were removed from the packaging. Apparently, when you shake bottles of water they don't make bubbles, but alcohol does.

Either go to the Guest Service Desk or when in your stateroom , call the reservation desk. Easy peasy.

Unless you are with a large group? Reservations may not be needed but they are available for the MDR and I did make them online, but need to make changes. I'm used to traditional dining and like the ability to make reservations in advance. Either go to the Guest Service Desk or when in your stateroom , call the reservation desk. Easy peasy. Thanks. Travel-Lover171 Posted October 17, 2014 #72 Share Posted October 17, 2014 I'll help a little here. No jazz brunch. Vibe passes cannot be purchased prior to sailing, yes, limited number (50?). If you aren't among the first few groups to board and line up, you won't get a pass. Do a search for the price Where do you fall in line to buy the pass? Thanks

jerseyralph Posted October 17, 2014 #74 Share Posted October 17, 2014 ? How would you make a change to MDR reservations? They are all open and freestyle-no ressies needed. Unless you are with a large group? We have sailed the Breakaway twice this year (Me and DH) and we are boarding her again this Sunday. We take the Unlimited dining package and always have reservations for dinner. If you are planning on eating in any of the specialty venues, you should make advance reservations. Additionally, one night we walked past the MDR and there were about 200 people on line at the hostess desk. The hostesses were walking the line suggesting people go to Taste or Savor. People were not budging. Make those reservations...... if you can. Freestyle is not quite as freestyle as we imagined it to be! Enjoy! rob111 Posted October 17, 2014 #75 Share Posted October 17, 2014 Hi. I have been going through your first 2 days of dailies on your other thread. Thank you. Very helpful. We will be on the November 30th Breakaway sailing. Just a question about the UBP. It seems the literature you are posting only makes reference to the $59/day package that includes liquor. I thought there was also a corks and caps package that was just beer and wine for about &44/day. Have you come across this corks and caps option? Just wondering as we might get it for our sailing but the package would not be worth it for us if we each have to pay $15/day extra for the liquor option we would not use. Thanks a lot!
