Upgrade Preferences on profile

What does it mean if you select "I prefer automatic upgrade" in the member section of the Crown & Anchor society on the RCI website? Does that mean if an upgrade becomes available they "automatically" give it to you or will they send you an e-mail and ask if you want to take it?

 

The paragraph before says they send an e-mail, but the word "automatic" is throwing me off. You would have to pay for an upgrade so I would prefer they give me the option to choose. Maybe I wouldn't want an "automatic" upgrade for two reasons: 1) I might not want to pay more and 2) maybe I chose my stateroom and want to keep it.

 

Here are the only options given:

 

Upgrade Preferences:

- I prefer an automatic upgrade

- I do not wish to upgrade my stateroom

- I would like an upgrade but have restrictions

If you pick automatic upgrade they will not call you. They will just give you an upgrade. We have that box checked and did not get a call for either rof our 2 upgrades

 

Those preferences are for free upgrades, not paid ones

If you choose a certain cabin and don't want to lose it don't check automatic upgrade because they will not call you. Chances are that someone will be moved into your old cabin so you won't be getting that back.

Also, you can opt to be called before getting an upgrade, but you must call Crown & Anchor to select that option. It's not possible on the website. I also suspect that option reduces the chances for an upgrade, but I don't have any facts to back that up.

If you like your cabin and location, mark "do not upgrade".they do not call you, and might switch you to someplace you don't want to be.
