My Nov 1st Divina review: Why we won't sail MSC again.

Since you booked thru a TA....maybe they could give the TA some compensation that you could use as a credit for future travel.

Did you speak to the TA?

I'm very easy to please .....and generally laugh as people's issues. But...your issues are very valid.

My TA went to bat for me at the get go of my problem, and it had absolutely zero effect. I'm not even going to bother asking her to contact MSC at this point, as they have pretty much made themselves clear on how they handle onboard problems.

My opinion still stands that my family will never sail MSC again, and I will post my experience everywhere on the internet that I find a forum. I've already posted my experience to one other cruise site, to Yelp.com and also to MSC's FB page. They deleted my post, but I will keep posting it so that hopefully MSC will take notice, and my issue will never happen to another customer.

That was definitely not the only thing that they did wrong. I do know that the menu states it is a beer, however right on the can it states SODA. It was not great customer service to straighten it out. Great customer service would have been to let the bar staff all know that it is not a beer at all. The excursion desk is totally disorganized, the staff were rude except the staff from Indonesia for some reason, and there were frowns from almost everyone. Not a pleasant experience at all.

Well, I would guess about 90% of the population doesn't know the difference between ginger ale and ginger beer. Myself included, so I looked it up.

Ginger beer is actually brewed and fermented while ginger ale is essentially a carbonated beverage made from water and ginger.

I had a completely different experience than you. I ordered a vodka on the rocks and asked for a can of the ginger beer. The casino bartender informed me it is not really beer (which I already knew) and I let him know I was using it as my mixer. Maybe this was the same bartender you schooled while you were onboard :)

Your complaint in your original post was that you were charged for a beer, when you ordered a soda. No, you were charged the 6.00 the drink costs, the 6.00 that the menu clearly states. Who cares if the crew calls it a beer or a soda, it is probably confusing to someone when english isn't their first language. So sorry that it took too long for the crew to fix your mistake-not theirs. I'm also sorry you had such a horrible cruise.

YAAAAAA so maybe this will help, technically YOU were wrong on this one. Maybe this will help a little.

The big difference between ginger beer and ginger ale is that ginger beer is brewed (fermented) but ginger ale is just carbonated water that's been flavored with ginger. Today's brewed ginger beers are categorized as non-alcoholic drinks because their alcohol content is less than 0.5 percent, which meets FDA requirements. Since ginger beers are naturally fermented, they have less carbonation and often develop a beer-like head when poured into a glass. Some ginger beers are sold unfiltered and appear cloudy, so it's recommended the bottle be inverted before drinking to reincorporate any separation.

Ginger beer or ale, whatever it is, your complaint simply does not compare in any way shape or form to what the OP encountered. It was listed on the menu at the price you were charged. If you didn't like the price, you need not have ordered it!

Agree that the Ginger Beer/Soda argument does not hold water. The correct charge is whatever is marked on the menu. Sometimes specialty, micro-brewed sodas are expensive and hard to find.

The booking and customer service issues are a real concern. There should be supervisors on board who have the authority to resolve small issues quickly. Just as the Captain rules the ship, heads of accounting, housekeeping, dining, etc. should have the autonomy and the authority to make decisions on disputes involving a few hundred dollars. Passengers would be happier with quick resolution--so that they could get on with their vacations--and ship-board managers would likely have greater job satisfaction, too. (It feels terrible for an intelligent supervisor to tie up hours of time on international phone calls.)

Phone Calls ?

These are the people who do everything by E mail! hence why it takes them so long.

Yes indeed. Their attitude is as long as they get it fixed by the time you're due to leave the ship, what's the problem.......enjoy your holiday, relax.

The queues at Reception and at the Accounting Desk would be significantly shorter if they fixed things in a matter of hours rather than days. They don't seem to understand not all passengers want to (or are able to) keep charging stuff in the belief that it will all be refunded again by the end of the cruise.
