Fantasy repositioning??

If this is true (that Fantasy is replacing Victory in Miami) it would be an odd decision. Carnival would be placing a small, outdated, 24 year old ship to compete with Royal's twice as big and much newer Liberty of the Seas on the 5 day cruise market. Seems like a very unfair competition. Also, Princess and Celebrity are performing 5 night cruises from South Florida with bigger and nicer ships , which would make the decision to bring Fantasy to Miami an even more mind boggling one.

I thought the same thing.

That is where the 3.0 upgrades come into play. It will be like nothing you've seen and will be beautiful with a few more cabins. Plus I will love my 60 inch flat screen in my interior room! :D

Yeah, I can see that happening. Some ships still have the same old outdated televisions in their cabins, even after 2.0. That is the least thing that Carnival would care to change.

Dont spend much time in our cabin so TV is the least of our concerns. New features and stuff to do is what we would like

We don't spend much time in our cabin either; just replying to the other poster that highly unlikely that cabin TV's will be upgraded, especially when some ships still have old televisions in their cabins after 2.0. Not a high priority for upgrades. The public spaces such as bars ($ making) are the things that are likely to be upgraded.

Here's what I don't understand, assuming all this speculation is true. You know the old "it must be true because it's on the Internet" The original thread, that was deleted, stated the swap would occur in April 2015. That's 5 months from now. Imagine if you booked a balcony cabin on the Victory and then all of a sudden you get a notice from Carnival saying you have now been switched to the Fantasy. No balcony for you. Normally when Carnival makes these types of switches it's for a comparable ship. For instance I originally booked the Liberty for October 2015 and Carnival announced they were switching the Liberty and the Valor. That's the same class of ships. I just don't see them switching those two ships, at least not 5 months from now. I imagine many many people would cancel if downgraded from the Victory to the Fantasy.

Personally, I'd love for it to be true since I sail on the Fantasy on April 7th.

I didn't know the Carnival Splendor and the Carnival Miracle were comparable ships, nor the Carnival Dream and the Carnival Destiny/Sunshine.

Perhaps not, but all those ships contain large number of balcony cabins. So if you were on the Dream and were switched to the Sunshine or if you were on the Miracle and switched to the Splendor most likely you would still have a balcony cabin. Not so with the Fantasy and the Victory.

And not so if you were on the Splendor being switched to the Miracle.

When the Triumph and Ecstasy swapped, what happened to those with balconies on the Triumph?

You seem to be the one with the answers. So please, tell me what happened? Were the passengers given more than 5 months?

I figured you would research this. It plays a supporting role in your example.

Were those on the Carnival Sunshine given more than 5 months when they found out the ship wasn't ready and many last minute cruises were cancelled involving transatlantic airfare? At least those booked on the Legend's later European sailings that were cancelled were given a little more notice.

I was aware of that. However, that's a different situation. The Sunshine was not ready to sail. End of story. That is an entirely different situation than just switching two ships.

I understand it was a different scenario, but is references last minute cancellations. If you recall correctly, the April 2 cruise on the Fantasy is to be canceled, as per what karm and Stormin' Norman have been sharing. The Sunshine and Legend examples still play a significant role in this entire scenario because of such. Also, the Carnival Legend's sailings weren't canceled because of a dry dock mishap.

I just don't this happening but that's the beauty of having an opinion, you don't have to agree with it.

I wouldn't mind if it was though, like I said I would benefit from the switch.

I should stay out of this. :(

What I posted in the *poofed* thread was that my PVP said they already had a very large number of bookings for Victory for the spring and the rebooking for that switch, this close to happening, would be a logistical nightmare and he just didn't see it happening.

I also posted there that he had clued me in on future happenings before they were common knowledge. But I'm guessing he's like me at my job - we aren't supposed to talk about certain things and he may or may not have been completely forthcoming with info.

My only interest is that I sail from Charleston fairly often and have been looking at spring cruises. I typically sail insides so a ship switch wouldn't be that much of a big deal to me. I don't need more bells and whistles (although I wouldn't mind Guy's Burgers!).

Yes, Victory will be in drydock in April.

But let the rampant speculation continue! :p
