Or you could pay the 5% and take that $300 out at the casino- So you would be ahead $285 if you deduct the 5% ($15)

There's differing opinion on this option. According to the terms of the OBC promotion, it has no cash value, so taking it out at the casino may not be possible. So far no one has posted that they either tried and were not successful, or tried and did manage to cash it out.

I have been looking at a couple of dates and get the same thing. Shouldn't a C&A member be able to book a cruise for somewhat less than someone who has never sailed with RCI before?

Not on every sailing. Many sailings have no C&A discounts.

I know. But here is the wording right from the promo on their website. So you can take it out to "use for gambling" I won't find out for myself until Feb. However, I am not bringing cash to gamble with like I would normally do. We are planning on using the OBC money for that.

PS You can be sure that I took a screen shot of that page.

Take advantage of our richest sale of the year:

•Buy one, second guest goes half off.

•Get up to $300 onboard credit to spend any way you'd like.

•Plus deposit reduced by 50%

We never leave home without it:)

I hope you're successful. We have some of this OBC for our March cruise, and I would like to use it in the casino as well:)

I hope we get reports before we sail. I think the promo was for sailings starting 1/1/15??

You would think that it is lower, but from RCL's perspective, you actually paid more, and IMO that's at the core of their pricing scheme. To get the $300 OBC, you part with $1834, and the OBC costs RCL ~$100, so they get $1734 net revenue from you. If you use your C&A discount, they get $1784. If you take the OBC "deal," they know you'll probably spend $200 of it on shore excursions or in the shops (where they get a hefty % of the cost rebated to them). If you take the C&A "deal" they know you'll probably spend that much on board out of pocket, so they come out ahead either way.

I understand what you are saying but I would spend that money anyway, so I would travel for less money if I don't use my " benefits " as a C&A member.

My DS and DIL are sailing on the same cruise we are, they get a $200.00 OBC his second cruise

His mother and I have 38 cruises we get a $225.00 Balcony discount

I am not sure who is getting the better Deal

Is RCL trying to tell us old folks something or what,

Maybe they are trying to say something like go try NCL or Princess time will tell

I so agree with you. I earned my Diamond Discount, but I cannot take advantage of the sales? RCCL is becoming ridiculous! We booked Jewell with friends for February 2016 and I am saving $25 more than they are! I feel a bit betrayed by the new pricing policies of RCCL. Celebrity is calling my name more and more! I went on Reflection in November and had multiple combinable discounts, along with a fantastic cruise.

It is hard to move from a company that I have been loyal to for so many years. But changes happen, and we do not have to like them.

I feel the same way, I am being penalized for being a Diamond Plus.

Pull me in by a great sale and price then slap me for being D+
