gelfy666 Posted January 11, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 11, 2015 Hoping to get a single cabin on a cruise in the med on Azura or Ventura for 14 nights, as these cabins are very limited, where can I find the costs for an inside cabin for 2, but just for 1 passenger? Best thing is try a dummy booking for the cruise you are after. You will get. Price on current availability. You don't even have to use your own name. Fred & ginger have done quite a lot of dummy bookings.....👫

You don't even have to use your own name. Fred & ginger have done quite a lot of dummy bookings..... Just do a dummy booking for one person, selecting 1 passenger and an inside cabin. I tried an inside single on Ventura and it was a disaster. There was so much creaking and squeaking in the walls and ceiling it was impossible to sleep. They moved me to an outside the next morning without even arguing about it. The single outside was somewhat better but still the worst cabin I have had on a P&O ship. I now go for an inside or outside double for single occupancy and it only costs a few pounds more. Those sinlge cabins on Ventura were added in a refit. I understand Cunard did a similar thing with Queen Victoria? but they did not make the cabins available for months after the refit, obviously so they could fix the squeaking and creaking

I have booked for Azura as a solo passenger and it was £100 cheeper to have an inside regular double than an inside solo cabin !! Just do a dummy booking and see what comes up. I wouldn't recommend the single cabins on Azura.I stayed in an outside single, they are small, basic, functional, but extremely noisy, being very close to the Atrium. jeanlyon Posted January 12, 2015 #6 Share Posted January 12, 2015 I can never understand why there is a single supplement for an inside cabin. It only sleeps one person, so why the supplement?
richleeds Posted January 12, 2015 #7 Share Posted January 12, 2015 I can never understand why there is a single supplement for an inside cabin. It only sleeps one person, so why the supplement? Apparently cruise lines dont like solo passengers for various reasons, hence the limited cabins available and the supplements to try deter them. davecttr Posted January 12, 2015 #9 Share Posted January 12, 2015 I can never understand why there is a single supplement for an inside cabin. It only sleeps one person, so why the supplement? the vast majority of inside cabins are doubles, with just a few single ones added in refits to increase the onboard revenue etc.
davecttr Posted January 12, 2015 #10 Share Posted January 12, 2015 There is a large potential market for solo cruising but the ships are not designed for this, with the possible exception of Norwegian Epic etc with its large number of solo studios plus their own lounge space, even then it came about by accident.
