flahagan Posted January 20, 2015 Author #26 Share Posted January 20, 2015 I'm finding it odd that most cruiselines seem to have placed their oldest and most poorly-reviewed ships in Alaska. I know that a lot of people say the ship isn't important, but when you're comparing exact itineraries you'd like to be able to compare ships. Seems odd to me. I can't find a ship that really holds any appeal, on any cruiseline.
freestyling Posted January 20, 2015 #27 Share Posted January 20, 2015 I believe the smaller ships ( usually the oldest) are able to provide access into glacier areas and other smaller ports that the big ships cannot. With that said I was told on my last NA cruise that HAL will have the NA in Alaska for 2016.
PatsyAnne Posted January 20, 2015 #28 Share Posted January 20, 2015 So much depends on what you like to do and how you like to travel. Personally, I'd take the SE Alaska cruise first and focus on those wonderful towns and views. Since you're looking at Tracy Arm, I'd pick July when you are more likely to go farther. Some years it's blocked some in June. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
