Hyatt Pier 66 in Fort Lauderdale......

I've been told there is a large renovation on-going at this hotel and that the pool area is being completely redone. Does anyone have info about this? Any idea when the work is supposed to be completed? What are they doing during the renovations to provide their guests with pool facilities, if anything?

The pool is scheduled to be done by the end of October - I understand they will be shuttling pool people to other hotels in the area.

Other than the pool, what else is being renovated?

During our 8/19 stay, we were given free water taxi tickets (normally $5 per person / per day) so that we could go to the Hyatt's sister hotel, the Bahia Mar, for use of the pool there. They also had a shuttle to the Bahia Mar.

 

I didn't see / hear of any other renovations... but we were only there 1 night.

15AUG05-25OCT05:The hotel pool will be closed for the above rates due to ongoing pool renovation. Alternative option is the pool/beach shuttle to neighboring properties.

They are also doing some room renovations, I think.

 

I saw that notice on the website but wonder if it is anywhere near accurate. I thought perhaps someone who had been there recently might have more 'first hand' information.

They're also painting the exterior. The tan bits are now seafoam green, changes the whole look of the place, but it's starting to grow on me.

Oh Great!!! I steered away from the Embassy Suites because I thought they were going to be renovating that hotel. We got the Hyatt on Priceline for 9/16. Maybe we will have a better chance at talking them into a tower room now!
