Early flight from Tampa

Recommended Posts

I am cruising out of tampa in april on BOS and my return flight is 10:20am. is this cutting it too close i've never flown out of tampa so this is a first for me how early can i get off ship.

The ship does not arrive in port until 7 AM so you would have to do self disembark and walk off with your luggage. Make sure you arrange for that on the day you board the ship.

Assuming there are no delays and you are in a taxi headed to the airport by 8 AM you should make a 10:20 AM flight. Clearing security in Tampa is usually pretty quick. However, depending on which airline you are flying there can be some long check in lines so keep that in mind if you need to check bags.

It is not that unusual that ships are delayed arriving at Tampa due to fog in the harbor.

I tend to cut things close, but 10:20 flight is pushing it. Possible? Sure.

Used to be you could just take the next flight. Sadly these days, the next flight is often full. No seat - no fly.

Fog shouldn't be an issue in April. But I agree that trying to catch a 10:20 flight is pushing it. Most times I sail out if Tampa I am on the road by 830am but there can always be delays..

You are really pressing it with that flight. If all your stars align you could make it. If the ship is delayed at all, or if it isn't cleared by customs quickly you will need a plan B. Matter of fact - think of a plan B now!!

We had a 920 flight once out of Tampa. It was horrible! We came back on a Thursday so we sat in a ton of traffic on the way to the airport because of rush hour traffic. Then once at the airport it was mostly business travelers and it took forever to get thru security because the scanning and checking of all the laptops and briefcases. We ran to our flight! We made it with like a minute to spare. It was way to nerve racking and will never repeat that mistake again!

From experience arriving back to Tampa on 21st Feb, suite guests were escorted off at 8am but by this point the self disembark line was almost round the whole deck and it moved really slowly.

Try to get out in line well before 8am and make sure that when carrying off bags you have a hand free so you can use escalator as opposed to having to queue for the lift.

When it looked like we wouldn't make it off in time for our 11am flight we spoke to guest service manager and he escorted us off. He recommended we get a porter in the terminal and this saved us lots of time as they have a priority immigration line. Eventually we made the airport at 9.30am.

Good luck with making your flight.
