An idea for a sticky

Just to add that I was looking at the Deck Plans for QM2, and those plans only apply to voyages from 10 May 2015 (M505) - 3 January 2016 (M602). This seems to suggest that deck plans (categories) will change for bookings after 3 January 2016? Just my guess but there will also be new deck plans after the extensive re-fit (dry dock) following the World Cruise in 2016.

I would welcome a sticky such as you are proposing.

The first item I would suggest for such a sticky is a link to Cunard's "Frequently Asked Questions" page at http://ask.cunard.com. This provides a wealth of information and is much more useful than the limited FAQs page provided on Cunard's web site for North America. Quite a few questions on this forum end up being answered by providing information from "ask.cunard.com" and new members in North American probably have no idea that resource even exists.

Regards,

John.

Hi Bluemarble. I just clicked on the link you mentioned -https://ask.cunard.com/help/cunard/ - and it appears to be geared to UK bookings rather than North America bookings. For example, the opening page states:

"Please note that should your enquiry relate to your specific booking you will need to call our Customer Contact Centre on 0843 374 0000 between the hours of 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm Saturday & 10am to 4pm Sunday."

Several other questions are in response to UK bookings , such as the question "Will I need travel insurance?" - the answer does not apply to US bookings.

So just to mention that some information offered on that website might not/does not apply to US bookings. -S.

Hi Blue Marble. Just my personal experience, but the deck plans (cabin categories) have been through several evolutions in the recent past.

So, just to mention that any 'sticky' regarding deck plans would need to be updated as warranted. For example, passengers booking voyages/cruises after QM2 dry dock in 2016 need to know the most current information, once that information is released. Kudos to the OP for taking on that task.

No doubt any 'sticky' relative to deck plans will be updated by those in control of the 'sticky', and will be much appreciated.

Salacia

Hi, Salacia.

The links I provided are to the general "Deck Plans" pages for each ship where currently one can choose between "before May 2015" and "May 2015 onwards" versions of the deck plans. As we reach those May 2015 cutoff dates in the not-too-distant future, naturally the selections for the "before May 2015" deck plans should disappear from those existing pages but the URLs to those pages do not need to change. When Cunard make additional changes to the deck plans for 2016, then selections for those new 2016 deck plans would be added, but again the URLs to the pages showing the various choices of available deck plans do not need to change.

My hope is that the URLs to those general "Deck Plans" pages would remain the same going forward. For example, Cunard could continue to post links to deck plans for QM2 at the current page "/cruise-ships/queen-mary-2/deck-plans/" regardless of how many versions of QM2 deck plans are in effect at any given time or for what dates they are in effect. Of course that may be expecting too much. If Cunard do decide to change the URLs to their general "Deck Plans" pages in the future, then yes, the "sticky" would need to be updated accordingly.

Of course if Cunard decide to go through another significant site redesign in the future, all bets are off in that case.

Regards,

John.

Yes, indeed there is a certain amount of UK-specific information provided on "ask.cunard.com". On occasion, it has been suggested that the FAQs link on the U.S. web site should provide a link to "ask.cunard.com" to make it more useful. Presumably that has not been done because of the UK-specific information on "ask.cunard.com".

The bulk of the information on "ask.cunard.com" is general in nature such as "What will the dress code be whilst I am on board?", "Who are the senior officers on board?", and "How much are the drinks on board?".

But your point is well taken regarding topics such as those relating to the terms and conditions of booking, insurance, visas/ESTAs, and contact information which are UK-specific.

Regards,

John.
