Free Drink Coupon vs Cheers/DOU limit

I posted this on JH's FB page, but wondering what you all think?

"So with the exciting announcement yesterday that Gold members will receive a drink coupon in place of the party, I have a question. In regards to the Cheers package and the casino Drinks On Us card, we've recently learned that the two packages are now connected and have a combined limit of 15 drinks per day (rendering the DOU card useless if you have Cheers). My question is will this "free" drink also count against the 15 drink limit? It shouldn't as we've paid for the Cheers package and this is supposed to be free, right? Just wondering :)."

For those of us who play in the casino, the combining of the packages is the loss of one benefit that we actually have to earn with play. However, everyone who buys Cheers and is Gold, if the "free" drink counts against your limit, you didn't gain anything.

The old "Free Drink at Breakfast, brunch, or Lunch" coupon didn't count against the 15-drink limit last summer. I assume it will be the same with this one. In fact with that old coupon they never even looked at my S&S card.

Perhaps over-analyzing, but hey that's just my opinion.

Possibly...I tend to do that sometimes :). But the drinks that we obtain with the DOU card never used to count against the Cheers limit either. Was just a question...I'll live either way and still cruise Carnival :D.

I would have to agree. The coupon will be redeemed and they won't even know if you have Cheers so if you have Cheers, you can now get 16 drinks on the last day (if you're still able to walk that is).
